i just finished watching this video on youtube and thought i'd share. this guy has a lot of good tips and tricks for servicing the s&w revolver:

he, gunblue490, has a lot more excellent videos on various firearms, shooting, reloading, and more.

It's been a very long time since I went to armorers school.

Didn't have time to watch the whole video but, he strikes me as a guy that's really been there and done that.

Good video. Thanks.

i've watched all his videos and, while i don't agree with every one of his opinions, his technical skill is top notch. i have learned a bunch from this guy.

I watched most of the video, and while the guy is obviously knowledgeable, he sticks to the S&W line that you can't do anything to improve their revolver's function. Just today I did a trigger job on my Model 19-3 and dropped a pound or two off the double-action pull.

One thing he shouldn't do is to remove the sideplate without taking the tension off the mainspring. Having a stud break doesn't happen often but one time is too many!

His method of side plate removal is a bit odd I never saw any gunsmith guide recommend doing it that way. But it does seem to be safe. Also I was always taught to release the tension on the mainspring First before taking off the side plate.
