Several pistols in same caliber?

I thought, and still do, think it best to never let my ammo supply get low enough to be a crisis. This pandemic is not a crisis, for me/us. My days of high-volume centerfire shooting are over, anyway, with my thumbs/hands/wrists not aging all that well, so large volumes of my favored .357 Mag, .38 Special, .45 ACP, and .45 Colt are not necessary. I mostly just need to feed .22 LR to my S&W 17-4, and occasionally fire a few centerfire rounds, with various revolvers. I have a place to discreetly plink, with .22 LR, on private land.

My Glocks do require more trigger time, to maintain proficiency, but training opportunities are severely limited by the pandemic, so my Glocks have become unloaded relics of my LEO-ing days. I do have several hundred rounds, each, of training and carry 9mm ammo, but it will be a while before I use any of it.

OTOH, I recently added some rifles, as my attention has shifted to long guns, as my left shoulder remains healthy. The current ammo shortages have made it difficult to acquire enough ammo for function and accuracy testing. This is not a crisis, just an annoying inconvenience. I already had an adequate supply of ammo for my long-favored rifles.

First of all the number of pistols that you should own is easily calculated by the formula: X = N + 1 Where X equals how many you should own and N equals how many you currently own. I am not sure about the formula for how many in each caliber to own but it follows the same line of thought.

I like diversity. I only have a few calibers that I have multiple guns for. 22lr for sure, 38spl, 357, 32swl, 223, 38sw... I think that’s it. When I want to shoot and times are tough then I likely have enough ammo for at least one or two calibers to have a good time and not be worried about running out. Reloading helps too, but compounds matters when you try to have a bunch of different stuff and reload for all of it.

This is my opinion so take it FWIW. I believe TEOTWAWKI has happened.

I don't think we're ever going to see pre-covid America again. It doesn't matter if Trump or Biden wins the election. If Trump wins there will be Civil Unrest. If Biden wins, Hell yes he's going to take your AR. Either way there's going to be a run on guns, ammunition and accessories.

think the cashless society we're heading into is a plan and I think it will become increasingly difficult to buy guns, ammunition and accessories (as well as other non politically correct products) as time goes on because more and more financial institutions will simply refuse to do business with the firearms industry.

I said all that to say I think it's too late to start (start not continue) trying to stock up or consolidate. I think where we're at right now is what we're going to go with.

I'm really glad that there are really only two things on my radar. 9mm ammunition and Glock 19 magazines. Glock 43 or 26 magazines would be nice but they're not an immediate necessity. I'm going to continue to try to get more but I have no intention of trying to branch out.

Your glock 19 mags will also work on the 26 , so this is a good thing for you.

Only really need 1 actual 26 mag and 19 mags as back up

This is why i did not buy as many 26 mags as i did 17 or 19 mags

Yes. I'm aware of that. That's why I chose a Glock 19 & 26 as my carry guns

Nobody mentioned B/P. I know this isn't the forum for it, but it's a great last resort, I've got many pistols from 22 to 45, but also have a variety of B/P, enough brass and molds and lead to cast for a very long time. B/P is relatively cheap, long storage life(the real stuff) and as accurate as any modern gun.

357--5 guns. 38--5 guns. 44 special--3. 45 acp--3. 44 mag--4. 9mm--3. 380--3.
Main stockpile is 357, 9, 38, 380, 45a, and after that whatever. Forgot 45 Colt--2.
Also,. 357 is number one as my carbine and SP are both my go to home defense pair.

Different tools for different reasons. These times will go away and I know i have learned my lesson on not keeping enough primers on hand.
