Actually, my little brother needs help. He has a Helwan 9mm pistol that has "locked up" on him. The reason I say Beretta is that the Helwan is an Egyptian made Brigadier copy.

The slide stopped open on the last round of the mag, he released the slide on an empty chamber now the slide is locked up tight. Any ideas on how to get this thing functioning again?

Since you indicate the pistol is unloaded, here is one thing you might try. Place the muzzle against something solid (edge of bench, for example) and lean into the gun. If that doesn't work, cushion a block of wood with some cloth and rap the muzzle hard to drive the barrel straight back.

If that works, disassemble the pistol and clean it well, looking for any burrs that could cause the same problem later on.

If that doesn't work, stop, and get back to us. Don't go any further with the BF (brute force) method.

Thanks Jim. I'll try it tonight. Should the barrel/muzzle move back? Or should I try to move just the slide back?
