Shake awake..

Occasionally they snore a little bit, but you gotta listen really close...;)

I'd place it in a position so you can look straight thru the RDS without moving the rifle. Then after while peek through, and right after move it a bit and look through again.

I picked up a couple of the SIG Romeo5's over the summer for a couple of 22's. They have the shake awake feature, and it seems to work as advertised. I was curious if it would shut off after the alloted 2 minutes, and stood the gun muzzle down, and it did, right on the money too.

There is something you may want to consider with the shake awake if youre planning on leaving the sight on. As long as you dont touch the gun, and by "touch", I mean exactly that, you dont have to pick it up or shake it, simply lightly touching or bumping the gun will turn it on. Thats probably not going to be a problem if the gun is in storage in a place with no vibration, but if youre planning on keeping it in your vehicle, or somewhere its going to get jostled a lot, you will be better off just turning it off.

I picked the SIG's up because I had picked up a similar model that didnt have the feature, and of course, it was dead the next time I grabbed it from the safe as I hadnt turned it off. Ive been using Aimpoints for the past 20 yers or so, and just leave them on. The battery issue was why I went with them in the first place.

For the 22's, I wasnt going to drop a grand on a couple of sights for them, and after the dead battery thing with the other sight, the SIG's sounded like a good idea for what they were. At least they do shut off if you do forget but as I said, if there is any jostling involved, its going to be going on and off a lot.
