My wife came from a left leaning family who are somewhat anti-gun. Nevertheless she married me despite me being very pro-gun. Had a doctor's appointment in a town an hour away. Having never visited LGS there I said let's go to 2-3 stores there. I was looking for a compact 9mm for me and handed her a p365, P365XL, XDs and an APX but she always said she's not into guns and has no interest whatsoever and the gun will be for me anyway. Then the sales guy handed her an FN 509 Compact Tactical and she instantly said she's buying it for her as her very first gun! Holy moly I think I converted her to the dark side! She loved it because she's a southpaw and my guns are all for righties. I'm so happy that she wanted it and is suddenly interested. And here's the pic of her new toy. I guess that means I still have to buy one for me.

What I have found is most "anti" gun folks are not really "anti". They are just folks that have never become comfortable around guns. Could be they were never introduced to them, or just not introduced to them properly. How many times have we heard those stories about the macho guy taking his wife out shooting for the first time and has her shoot his 3 1/2" 12 ga. turkey gun, and then wonders why she doesn't like guns. Kudos to you for doing it right.

Good for you and better for her. My wife was never into guns either until I suggested she get a Concealed permit so she was legal sitting in a car alone with an accessable gun. After that she found her first gun that was to her liking. A .380 Kimber Micro..then a few months later a Kimber 9 Micro. Women have a different, broader set of requirements when it comes to choosing a defensive weapon. Better they choose something they prefer as then they'll be more likely to practice with it.

My wife was never anti-gun, but, never pro-gun either.

Then we went to the range one time and she had to have her own. She now has 11 firearms in my safe!!

Be careful!! The conversion can be REALLY expensive!!

I fixed it for you.;)
When my wife and I got married. My guns weren't enough for her. She wanted as many of her own as I had.
She now has 2 shotguns, 3 rifles, and 3 handguns.
Most of them are higher dollar guns than mine. But I'm proud that she converted to the country lifestyle.

In my latest Ruger Newsroom Email dated 1/19/2021, there's an article about four women titled, 'Why I Carry". It's very informative and worth the time to read. Hope you are able to access it!

Yeppers, it really can! I've said before that my wife (of 50 years come June) just might have more guns than I do if we added them up.
That's why I kind of scratch my head whenever I see someone on THR state, "Never sell a gun!" Huh? If neither my wife nor I had ever sold a gun in our 50 years of marriage, we'd have run out of room in our house a long time ago. We would have had to buy a bigger house, and safes are expensive too.
Nevertheless, back to the subject - my wife had never even touched a gun until about a week after she married me. She took to them like the proverbial "duck to water," and I'm glad. Besides, a few of my own most treasured guns were gifts from my lovely bride of almost 50 years.:)
BTW, our oldest daughter is way into guns too, and she married a gun guy last summer. The difference was, Jon (our daughter's husband) was more into semi-auto pistols and ARs than our daughter was, and she was more into hunting rifles than he was.
But it's a good match - they're blending together well. They took the Idaho Enhanced Concealed Carry Class together, they both carry, and our daughter took Jon (her then fiancé) deer hunting for the first time in his life the year before last.:)

Donn'tcha just love actually seeing someone's (apologies:evil:) trigger get tripped like that.

I'd really like to hear about her first shooting experiences with it.

Todd.

Way to go HPJeep, but technically the gun store guy is the one that handed her the right gun for her. Just kidding. Glad she came over to the Right side. My wife of 49+ years came from a gun/hunting family so she never complained. Well got my daughter and then son a pistol when they were ready to leave the nest. I had a friend that owned a range and sold guns and can't remember the occasion, but I was in my buddy's gun store, imagine that and I realized I hadn't gotten my wife a present. Well there in the case was a highly polished Taurus .357 snub nose, hammerless and I bought it and didn't even wrap it, brown paper bag. I figured I was either going to be a hero or zero, I handed it to her when I got home she opened the bag and box and replied I wondered when I was going to get mine. Ya'll do know the most dangerous thing on the planet, a scared woman with a loaded gun!! Now HP you have another gun to hunt ammo for unless you have a great big stash.
