So. I’ve been trying to find info on this, because it’s no longer illegal to get ammo shipped to your home in NY, some FFLs will do it.

Some, say that ammo still requires a face to face transaction and that’s why they can’t ship to your house.

Does anyone know where this is legally laid out so I can peruse the info myself and or direct an ammo seller to it?

I do so feel for you guys. Law abiding folks jumping through hoops like this for legal items.. :( For us that do not live this, can you jump in a car drive over the state line and clean out a store and drive back??? Or like if you went on vacation, hits a few stores and drive back with happy vacation memories and a few 1000 rounds???

A further dumb question can ones aunt in Texas order online and mail the ammo to you?? Or you pick it up from her as you pass through town??

it really depends on the particular states law. Here in NY it is very confusing because not all of the law concerning ammo was ever implemented and as you can see no one is sure of how that affects the rest of the law.

People do go to surrounding states and buy ammo. There is nothing in the safe act to prohibit that.

You can't send ammunition through the US Mail.

Well let us say I was using the word "mail" in the verb form.. In reality one would use UPS
Right. We know that ammo gets shipped interstate every day. And I didn't know until finding these threads that there has possibly been a change re: upstate and downstate in NY.

Actually just sold a gun to a trucker who, while waiting for his b/r check to come back told us of finding out it was illegal to bring ammo with you into California even if you weren't a Ca resident, had no intention of leaving said ammo there, and definitely not using it there except in the most dire circumstances. He found this out from other truckers at a Nevada truck stop and spent hours in his cab pulling bullets and deconstructing the ammo. Supposedly he was wary of scanners like they have at ports that can actually scan for explosives, guns and ammo. I, personally, have not researched this but I have little trouble believing this story.

Crap you may have something sad to say.. It is illegal for a CA residence to do it... And things are to wacky there for me to argue..
