I recently moved from California to Florida and was considering having one of my cali-legal ARs shipped to Florida. I know it's legal but I'm not sure how to about it properly. Does it have to be declared that your shipping a firearm? I've heard horror stories about guns in the mail and was wondering if there was an alternative to shipping a rifle case with big bold letters saying "TAKE ME!". I realise that shipping back to California might be a headache but for now I'm just worried about getting it to Florida.

Thanks for any replies in advance,
Colin

If you're already in FL, it is difficult.

If not, sell the AR in CA (keep it here!!!) and buy a new one in FL. I hear they grow on trees there......

It's true. We've got orange groves and carbine groves, although the recent cooler weather has stunted their growth a bit in some places. A bigger concern recently has been the threat of the gunbannicus politicus virus spreading out and affecting our trees around here.

Do I understand you plan to move back to Kalif?? If so I would store it there. Along with honest cap mags. (IF I understand you can keep/use full cap mags that are there. BUT you can not BRING any in? So buy real mags in FL (and to follow law get rid of them before you go back where you can use your legal mags) IF you take them out how will you PROVE they are from Kalif (bought before ban)??? If caught at border????

Why on earth do you want that neutered AR here? It could pollute the AR gene pool here.

If it makes you feel better; its neutered status can be easily reversed. :neener:

Yes, I plan to move back to California at some point. I assure you I wont be conveying any full capacity mags back there. I actually have two rifles, one I brought with me to Florida and the other is in California. I might just take your advice but I wanted some information anyway.
