Here is a video of Kansas City gang bangers. There is no gore or violence but still it is hard to watch and the video contains much cussing. Note the Glock 26 (I think) loaded with a nickel case round (IE: advanced/quality ammo) and note the body armor under the puffy coat.

I live in Kansas City, Missouri. Today Kansas City was named the "Black Male Highest Murder Rate" in the country. I think it is important for everyone who CCWs to see this sort of stuff as upsetting as it might be. This is what you might come up against; well armed and I bet a quicker shot than most of us. But without question you face a foe more ruthless and thoughtless in action than most anyone can understand.

What a mess. I bicycle through the area shown in the video.

I'm sure you have your reasons for doing so.

For some strange reason, I prefer to carry my Glocks (with a round chambered) in some type of holster... probably slows me down a bit. I agree with the "ruthless and thoughtless in action" assessment and a seconds hesitation could cost you dearly should you be in the "wrong place at the wrong time". 12th St & Paseo, like most of east KC... just might be an interesting place to bicycle through... quickly and carefully. But I'd try to avoid Charlie Parker Square in Killa City if I was you ibmii.

Did they ever catch Shauntay Henderson last year? IIRC wasn't "she" touted as the head of the 12th Street Gang? (and a ruthless little killer she was... or is)

"yknow what im sayin i robbed banks!" no wonder dems dont want people ownin guns! all i see is stupidity! a whole 7 minutes of it.

Move to Overland Park! Haha.

I just moved to Denver from KC, I didn't spend much time in their part of town (went to 18th & Vine about once a week) but I did, however, replace a condenser at one of those places they're standing in front of when I worked for A.B. May.

Anyway, yeah, that guy should sell a bag of dope and buy a nice IWB holster.

My understanding (which has a very strong chance of being wrong) is that for many body armor is as much a fashion statement as anything and carriers without any armor in them are common. Not entirely surprising when you take into account how uncomfortable most people find armor to be.

Anyway I'm not too concerned, statistically these people aren't coming after me, they're going after each other. I'd still just assume end the war on drugs and take away the money they're fighting over but in the meantime...

Maybe KC PD will do what Miami-PD did to the guy with the shottie and AK, use the video against him in court. Looks like he is holding 3 strikes in that video alone.

Ha

nickel case round (IE: advanced/quality ammo)
Looked like brass to me but whatever. Rem UMC comes nickeled. I wouldn't consider that particularly advanced or of good quality.

Some interesting dialects in that video. Kind of a combo of hick and Ebonics.

I'm reading Freakanomics right now, it contains an interesting study about the average crack dealers in Chicago making less than minimum wage since the money flows upwards (crime really doesn't pay in their case).

I wonder if those in the video have a similar situation, it would be interesting to study.

The Glock guy had better trigger finger discipline than most of the people I see at the range....

He was probably present when that other guy blew his finger off. Either that, or he saw the video with the DEA guy demonstrating his "Foty".

In any case, looking at this video reaffirms that there are indeed useful applications for "assault weapons". Please don't interpret that as a non-high road comment, it's not. I'm talking about a defensive weapon. If I were living in a metro area with these kinda people around, working in groups, I would want something that could throw a lot of lead.

As far as the brass goes, it could be aluminum blazer.

But what's with all the rob from the rich? I guess people that work and have jobs = rich? If you have a penny more than me then you are rich???

Yeah, only he's likely carrying a Glock without a holster in a jacket pocket, which means he's just as stupid as the DEA guy.

I'm glad I'll only be passing through Kansas City this weekend.

Probably military trained. There are a bunch of gang bangers in the military just for the training. The History Channel had a special about this very topic last week on their show "Gangland".

'Bangers are getting training.

Some of it is military, some of it is from each other. The FBI report interviewed the perps in some of the cases, they report actively working on firearms skills, not just totin' them around. More and more, especially in suburban areas, the police are claiming more encounters with trained weapons operators, rather than trigger yankers.

It's social darwinism. The guys who sprayed and prayed in the 80's never really hit much and got shamed by their lack of efficacy. The guys who started using training hit and killed their enemies. Or hobbled them sufficiently to take them out of the fight.

Everyone wants to be a good gangster in the segment of society. And, being good means being trained these days.
The days of waving a gun around to be a tough guy are passing.
Which is why it's all the more important to be trained, yourself.

Hahahaha! Seriously though, if you think this video is bad, this is just a clip from a 2-DVD set called Hood 2 Hood: The Blockumentary. It's about 4 hours long and covers almost every major city in the United States. It really is quite shocking what they have in it, and this clip from Kansas City isn't even close to one of the worst ones.

Considering he doesn't have a holster, he could just walk down the street with his gun in his hand inside of his coat pocket shoot from inside his pocket through his coat in the worst case scenario if he needed to. I would definitely say that would be a quicker shot than having to draw from a holster (though much more dangerous)...:uhoh:

"Dat was da code......of da situation."

Looks like someone needs to headshot #12.

"Dey gives you a lot of room ta kills yaself."

Hey, fellas, please don't let me stop you.

You know what scares me? Can you imagine what our taxes would be like if these people DIDN'T kill each other by the thousands? Over the course of years plus addition generations produced?

You see that Glock? You all paid for it. We cover his mortgage and food and his money went into that gun.

I was living in a bad neighborhood and going to a high school full of gang members throughout the mid-late 1990s which as many of you know, was histories hottest moment for gang violence in California. Interesting enough, we had bloods, crips, XIII, XIV, and though I never knowingly met any of them, we also had B&G. B&G were the most evil so to speak, but I never really crossed paths with them. I had issues with one blood (who was very unpopular among his own for his attitude) but that's it. I actually found the gang members easy to get along with. Just show them personal respect and dignity and stay out of their wars (if they try to get you involved, just tell them that you don't want to get caught up in their gang disputes and they respect it) and you will find them easy to get along with. In fact, I got the feeling that I was under their protection. The real problems I ran in to was a bunch of white wannabes going around doing random acts of violence, thievery etc. to try and seam tough, and the gangs hated those guys so much that opposing forces occasionally teamed up to go after them. Most of the ugly stuff that I saw in fact was not gang violence but sick behavior by people unassociated with gangs like rape and child molesting, which the gangs very often raced against the police to get to the offender, even if it happened entirely among white people.
Having seen how the gangsters think and handle firearms, I wouldn't be the least bit afraid of them should I be carrying. The movies are usually accurate about very few things, but their performance with firearms is definitely one of them. One skilled shooter could clean out a whole gang neighborhood. Well, that was back then. Airsoft games have probably pumped some sense in to them today.
That guy with the Glock in the video is one of the better gang members I have ever seen at handling firearms. He also had more sense then allot of them. He almost acts as if he's being influenced by a non-gang member who's got some sense.

I live in KC some of the time. I don't recognize that area but I'm pretty sure its not an area I would use for recreation. Kansas City can be pretty bad. Like most big cities there is a great deal of segregation. I don't know the housing project areas in KC at all. I used to work in projects in Chicago (back when the Robert Taylor Homes were up and running) and the South side of Chicago was literally a war zone. Burning cars, gun fire, plain clothed 3 man LE tac-teams and then gangbanger "tac-teams" driving the same old cop cars! Even still the gangbangers don't go around randomly killing people from what I've seen, but I'm sure it happens.

You know, KC is the best city I've ever lived in. I still live there more or less (I work all over the state these days). I do hear gun fire, but no ones shooting at me and I can tell you where it comes from and ASAIC I don't really care. Of course, you still have KC, Kansas as well, which is another story. Overland Park looks nice, but I can tell you there is a huge flip side to it (as in under reported crime).

The evolution of urban conflict! Apparently gangbangers realize to "one-up" their opponent, training is helpful. Even gangbangers want to survive!
