A J frame mainspring swivel flies when your hand slips replacing it.

Another trip to the Numrich website

Clear bag is much better if you want to see what you want to see what you are doing.

But if you are referring to the mainspring strut swivel ( collar)?
Why are you taking it off??

There is a a small hole in the strut.

If you cock the hammer and stick a pin punch or piece of wire through the hole, the whole assembly is compressed & captive when you take it out.

No reason for it to go flying off!

Anytime I need to remove a pin holding a spring loaded part together I place a shop rag around it - that way if something flies it will be trapped in the rag AND it keeps parts from hitting you in the face (before they fly off to a black hole). Most shops are full of black holes.

2-gallon zip-loc bag with a towel on the workbench. If it gets out of the bag, perhaps the towel will stop it.
