I know 32 cal 7-shot merwin hulberts will accept 32 S&W Short and 32 S&W Long brass. And reloading 32 Merwin Hulbert can be done by trimming down 32 S&W Long brass slightly, then filling with black powder and compressing with a .313" bullet.

But has anyone ever fired 32 S&W long wadcutters or light smokeless loads in a 32 Merwin Hulbert, specifically the 7-shot ones with a 1 1/4" cylinder? I'm trying to figure out if that's safe to do to minimize black powder clean up

No, but now I'm going to have to find out how well .32 HBWCs fit the chambers of my Uberti 1849 pocket .31.

No trying to be offensive but if you don't want to bother with "black powder clean up", don't shoot original black powder era firearms.

What size ball diameter have you been loading? Most .32 slugs for pistol cartridges are in the range of .311-.314" depending on the application.
