Just a couple of observations...If this had happened on either coast it would have been a national news story and the cable networks would be providing minute by minute coverage.

I wonder if the shooter had a CCW permit?

Sounds like a gangland disputation with one or more of the guests. Small caliber semi. Poor shooting. Gold teeth.

Sounds more to me like someone refused to "Show me" when asked.

Since when did Springfield, home of the largest Bass Pro shop I've ever seen, become gangland central?

OTOH, what kind of party at a hotel gets a room reserved until 4AM?

    Something fishy this way swims.

Shooting in the big/small town of Springfield.

Springfield MO is my home town. We are starting to see this sort of thing more and more on the north side of town. Intersate 44 runs right along the edge of town and makes a great get away route. The gang activity is low compared to some large cities but is still here. You are right though, I would have thought it would have got a little more national attention.

A witness reports that immediately prior to the shots being fired the shooter stated, "I'm the only person in this room professional enough, that I know of, to handle a Glock Foty." :uhoh:

RastaNarc is franchising his persona. The shooter may not always be him, but you can rest assured that any franchisee has been personally trained and that quality will be monitored and maintained.

As shown in the above case, it helps to accurately identify in advance the make and caliber of a firearm used foolishly.

From the local reports it seems that most of the guest were from out of town actualy from out of state. It was also reported that it was a wedding party not a birthday party also no one was seriously hurt only minnor stuff. Also from talking to local LEOs they are a little suspect of the whole thing because nobody there saw anything and most have now left state.

    OMG, that's my home town

Gotta call my dad tonight anyway, it's his 80th birthday. I'll ask him about it.

I really doubt it, the only business I have ever seen posted in Springfield is the local mall.

I guess it was a birthday party, the local tv station got it wrong. I still had a couple of local LEOs say that most of the guest were from out of town. The TV station interviewed whole families with little kids at this thing.

Leeroy Jenkins is a player in world of warcraft (online role playing game) that had a video made of him by another player. He spends a few minutes listening to a lengthy plan for a group of players to attack large group of monsters but instead gets bored and charges in. The monsters chase him around and everyone gets killed. Someone criticizes him for being a dumbass and he says "at least I aint chicken."

I think Leeroy Jenkins generally refers to anyone that is stupid enough to be dangerous to those around him.

Yeah a Wedding or birthday party. The media can't report the real nature due to PC issues.

Boy Springfield of all places. Time to crack down.

There is a lot more to this story. A friend of mine works at the hospital where the victims were treated. In addition to talking with many of the people who had been at the party, he got the "inside scoop" from the police officers, detectives, and deputies who responded.

The story, as he related it to me, was that the majority of the people at this party were gang-members/gang-affiliated who were from both from St. Louis, or Dallas, Tx (the two groups met in Springfield). At some point a fight broke out at which point, several people opened fire. There was obviously more than one shooter because the 9 victims were not all shot with the same weapon.

My only guess as to why the situation was "downplayed" in this manner is to avoid alarming the residents of a town that is normally very quiet and uneventful.

Or to keep the Springfield NRA chapter from patrolling the streets.
