this something I do and it works for me.I have shot bags laying around.I don't like sand they are to heavy for me.So I fill them with pelletized plastic fill one full then fill the other about half or three quaters full so you can use it at the the butt so if I need an little raise or to lower I can squeeze the shot bag worls for me for many years. A plastic plant should have what you should need.

Sand works its way through the weave and collects moisture and will eventually rot the bags. Corn cob media attracts rodents and they like to eat the media. Plastic beans, like in modern bean bags works well or try aquarium gravel or aquarium coral or very small glass beads and close all bags with two tight fitting electrical ties about 1 inch in from the open end. Close the ties in opposite directions. Use cloth bags only, the woven plastic bags break down very quickly. I've also cut 12 inch leggings off of old blue jeans and had the wife's sewing machine sew up one end. If you shoot and use them for revolvers, cover 2 inches from 1 inch centers with 2" duct tape on each side of center to prevent cylinder flash burn through. Hobby Lobby sells plastic beans and be sure to look them up on the internet and get a 40% off one item coupon.

Yep aquarium sand and old blue jean legs sewn shut. These have worked well for years. More of these than shot bags over the years. I seem to give them away over the years too.

Using blue jean legs makes so much sense it's stupid simple. I just never thought about it. Always waited until I got another shot bag empty because that's the way I always did it. Glad to see such a simple, great idea. Made my day. Was just getting ready to cut up jean legs for shop rags.

I use pelletized rubber for fill (in the landscape section at Menards). A large sack was like $20, and enough to fill several shooting bags. I have a couple of shot bags, and an old leather satchel from a yard sale that I dearly love. I seldom use the bags except for zeroing a rifle/testing a load. They're light, and completely durable.

I found a guy at a rummage sale lot going out of business & bought all of the Airsoft pellets he had to fill my shooter bags. They mash & form around the gun when needed but the bags are light enough for my daughters & girl friend to carry.

Poly Pellets @ Amazon. Work great for positional shooting. The kind of fill and how soft/hard the bag is really depends on how it is used.

I'm so cheap I did this; hospital visits issue those stupid tube socks which always follow me home so I happened to find a pair and then 2 one qt. zip lock bags which then got filled with the dirty cob media and then stuffed into the socks. These work very well and only cost the plastic bags. Not worried about media contamination because brass is always wet washed before hand.

I make my shooting bags from blue jeans legs in various sizes and fill them with polyethylene pellets. Great minds think alike.
