shooting bowling pins

Bowling pins make for fantastic reactive targets. They'll stand up to a tremendous amount of punishment before they're too broken to use.

Like any sort of dense reactive target, however, they should be placed at a reasonably safe distance.

Yep.

My little brother works in the Denver Metro, across the alley from a bowling alley. So... I don't guess I need to say much more.

I practice with my .50 Knight from a 100yards through iron sights.
I practice with my scoped .270's from about a quarter mile.

It's fun, and boy are they tough.

They have to be the best thing out there.
It is fun to watch some one shoot them the first time.
The pin just fly's and they kinda freeze. paper don't do that.
Buy them by the 100's I say.

Our local bowling alley won't even sell them for fear of liability from a ricochet. They said theirs are teflon coated?

Not teflon but the hard plastic coating tends to cause the bullets to deflect at odd angles. It could become a serious hazard if used up close.

I would never tell a bowling alley that I was going to shoot the pins. Then again, I haven't ever bought any. My brother just watches the dumpster in the alley that separates his business with the bowling alley. They throw them out regularly.
