Shooting double pistols - who teaches?

Banderas didn't have to actually hit anything - the script writer was on his side.

Seriously, like a lot of other things, I have tried it. I could do quite well point shooting with two guns, but not firing at the same time. Two problems. First, it is easy to fire two guns at the same time, but very hard to train to fire rapidly alternating shots. And it is even more difficult to alternate rapid shots and keep concentration on both guns. Worse than watching a very fast tennis match; it takes too long to shift attention and aim from one gun to the other.

If it is just a matter of "laying smoke", then firing, say, two DA revolvers at the same time is pretty easy. But while the two hands can easily mirror each other, alternating is hard.

FWIW, I was playing games in a safe area. I never even thought of carrying two guns (and in fact, never even carried a backup gun).

i just saw some youtube clips of cowboy action shooting where the shooter shot SA with their colt SAAs ( or replica's) with one in each hand alternating but still focusing on 1 target.

I teach 2 gun mojo all the time. I start with airsoft and a cat of 9 tails. Its almost a religeous experience.
For only $75/hr plus travel and all expenses I can make you a 2 gun mojo god.
For safety I only use DRT ammo and can help you custom design your own tactical wheel barrow.

Come on guys, stop taking yourselves so seriously. I'm severely embarrassed to have asked such a rookie question on a forum filled with hardened gunfighters.

Thanks out to the (few) people with useful contributions, most of all for comprehending the title of the thread and responding accordingly. If I may bounce a possible training scenario off you; one could practice retention shooting, then practice retention shooting with peripheral vision to discern targets, then bring both hands simultaneously into play?

(I'm still working on those quick-kill and threat forum reading)

And MachIV that hand foot thing is neat, I'll definitely get people with that later.

Seen it with my own eyes.

It is a close technique that Brownie has taught in a very few of his advance ITFS classes.

I'm an active cowboy action shooter and we have a couple of categories devoted to shooters who compete with a gun in each hand, "gunfighter" and "double duelist". A stage will very rarely call for dumping shots on a single target. Normally each shot is on a different target.

I have a friend who can at a signal draw a single action revolver with each hand and put ten shots on a torso size target from 30 feet in 1.8 seconds including reaction and draw time. And he doesn't use trick fast draw holsters. So, yes, there are plenty of people around who can do very good work with a gun in each hand. I doubt there are many semi auto shooters who can draw and put ten rounds on target in under 2 seconds using one or two guns.

But, hey, we're talking about a game here. Granted such shooting has little real world applicability. But it is fun and it is safe with people who know what they are doing.
