Shooting on the first date...

Coonan,

Sorry mah man! No older sister.

We went to the range today (Tuesday) and shot the Browning Buckmark, Glock 17, and Springfield 1911A1 Mil-Spec 9mm.

I am taking another date to the range on Thursday or Friday. This one is a very sweet ICU nurse that has a wild streak. She has never been shooting before. She sounded REALLY (I mean REALLY) excited about it too. She tried to go once before, but could not find an open range that day.

I will keep everyone filled in.

We had a great time. I taught her the four main rules, taught her about stance, trigger control, and sight picture. I showed her how to operate all three guns and gave her a run down about each of the three.

We shot for about 45 minutes. She had a blast! We shot at the same targets, but she kept them to hang on the refrigerator. I took her back home and met her parents. Her parents are pro-RKBA, but they do not shoot. Her father owns an old .22 rifle, but has no idea where it is in the garage or attic. She told her dad that the holes where there are not supposed to be holes are hers. She said that some of the holes where there are supposed to be holes were hers too. She then finished by saying that the holes where the bulls eye is supposed to be are mine. She did very well for her first time.

Squirrel, congradualtions where they are due , sounds like a keeper guy . too bad no older sister ...:( , when I was with my fiance it was great to go shooting , trying to find a woman around here thats into firearms is like trying to find a chicken with a overbite.. shoot straight and keep yourself out of ICU ..

You guys can laugh it up all you want, but that is what I did on my first date with my Wife...

No you pervs, I meant shooting! ;)

:D (5th anniversary is tomorrow!) :D

Correia,

Congratulations and happy anniversary! The first anniversary gift is paper...I am willing to bet the 5th anniversary gift is specifically listed as "gun metal."

Ok,

I just got back from going out with the ICU nurse. We REALLY clicked. We went to the range and had a blast! She was very nervous, and got scared a few times, but did very well. I had to help her with a flinching and recoil anticipation problem. I had her hold the Glock 17 while I stood behid her. She aimed it as I grabbed her hands and she told me when to pull the trigger. I could feel her trying to push the gun down. We stayed there for half an hour or so then went on for a full night of fun activities. Here are a few pictures (from the RANGE!):

Notice the safe gun handling...No finger on the trigger.

No, she does not have a sister.

She wants to go again. We talked about an outdoor range, and she wants to do that. She said she would feel more confident in the outdoors.

I will continue to keep you guys posted.

you guys are looking at the wrong thing fer cryin out loud

"needs to get up on that backstrap"

yeesh...

does she have a friend that might look like she's her sister??

I know that she needs a higher grip. I pointed this out to her, but we were trying to have fun, not win a competition.

I do not know of any of her friends that look like her, sorry 280.

The last girl I dated for more than a couple dates, I took shooting on our first date. We were introduced by a hunting buddy of mine, so she knew I was into guns. She mentioned that she had fired a gun before and had actually been deer hunting. I took her to an indoor range and we fired something like a Model 10. I tried to pick something simple that was not intimidating. I ended up going out with her for like three years and we probably only went shooting a couple more times. She wasn't really interested in guns, but was sincerely interesting in getting a self defense piece and knowing how to use it.

By the way, that nurse if very nice looking.
Have fun.

Frohickey,

My fiance shoots her own Sig P228 .40 S&W.

As I am evil I will swap her for a fully loaded Accuracy International AWSM .338 lapua. ;)

Of course, I don't think she'd go along with it. She wouldn't let me trade her car on one either :(

SquirrelNuts, I think Skunkabilly's comment on the first page about her being a paramedic and a church girl was a compliment. At least that's how I saw it.
At any rate, she seems terrific. Good luck with everything.

Acolyte,

I did not pick that up. I took it to be sarcastic. Nothing really clicked between me and the first girl I mentioned in the thread. We decided to just be friends. I think it was because she is planning to move to *GASP* Canada early next year, and I cannot get close to someone I know I will lose quickly.

The nurse and I are still in the works.

Damn Frohickey, you're right.

I had a brain fart- she has a P239. I have a P229, so I shoulda remembered. Of course my 229 has been replaced as a favorite by my SA 1911A1, so I don't think of her quite as I used to.

Offer still stands!!!
