Are there any ranges where you can shoot rimfire rifle .22LR in Cape May County New Jersey? Are there any specific laws about taking a single shot .22 bolt rifle to New Jersey while I am on vacation? Can I keep my rifle while renting there?

What about a .22 pistol used for target shooting while I' m renting during vacation?

I hate the thought of not being able to shoot for two weeks.

Have a look at packing.org (http://www.packing.org) for applicable gun laws.

Evan Nappen also has a book regarding NJ Gun laws (yes, they are complex enough to warrant their own book.)

Here is the book: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...f=sr_1_1/002-1631487-1127266?v=glance&s=books

I think you can order it direct from his web site as well: http://www.evannappen.com/door/

I don't have a copy in front of me but I'll have a look when I get home to see if he has specific answers to your questions.

For South Jersey ranges try: http://www.anjrpc.org/PlacestoShoot/Places_to_shoot.htm

or

Highland Ranger,

Thanks for the info. There is a place in Atlantic County that is within striking distance. I checked packing.org and apparently you can bring your pistol with you if you are renting.(I assume this means vacationing). I am going to contact the state police and try to get something in writing as I really want to avoid any problems.

AS long as the pistol is cased and unaccessable while transporting you should be o.k. I frequently travel to NJ for USPSA matches with no problem. Jersey does have its own mag cap laws and prohibits hollow points (if used in a crime). They especially don't like "Assault" weapons. There is a large range near Elmer NJ called USANA you might check out.
