big dog, Magnum.. Maggie for short
small dog, Rimfire (CB for short ??)
field dog, Skeeter (for Skelton), Skeet for short
but mostly just call her "good dog" ("dawg" for short)

but Coco... that's a tuff matchup, and Coco-Puff just don't get it done
when she grows a bit, get her a puppy buddy to help raise

All I will say is ask yourself.....what does it sound like when you say " come....." " sit ...." "stay...." "heel...." " bad....." " down...." and "no......" I wanted to name a dog guinness once but could never have said " bad guinness".

I have gone with Rock stars.....First Marley...and now JC aka the man in back...... both black lab males.....

How about "Gunner"?
I just lost a beautiful Tonkinese cat named Gunner. He was the best. Strange how people would ask his name and when I told them they'd roll their eyes and say "figures." Thing was, he was eight months old when I got him and was already named. I didn't change it.

I always tried to keep a dog's name to one syllable, if you must, two syllables at the very most.
Of the very few that I read here I sorta liked "Hoppes".
But in my suggestion vein, how about "Gun" or some derivative there-of?

We had a Lab named Gunner a few years back, but lost him.

So, how about Gunner, or maybe Gunny for a female? No disrespect intended to all the Gunnies out there. You have earned the respect that Title deserves!!!

"Cosmo" short for "Cosmoline". I'm not sure if you'd care too much about naming a dog after a rust preventative, but the name Cosmo is catchy like many other names here.

I have as good friend with 2 mini pins named Ruger and Remmy..... I like Carlos (Hathcock),Cooper (Jeff), or Lapua....

Pick a name with two strong syllables - this maximizes the dog brain effect.
Also take into account what you want to be yelling down the street when the
pooch takes it into his head to head south. Had a neighbor that looked really
stupid yelling Ohhh Layyyyy. Thus while I really like Reeeee Load.. Brow Ning
is prolly better.

My late Great Dane was named C.J. which was short for Calamity Jane. I also had a lab mix named Daisy. Coco is a good name though especially if the pup is already responding to being called such.
