Shooting through concrete walls

A glass bottle of gasoline with a lit wick in it will take out a concrete bunker just as fast as a grenade. Maybe faster!

A bottle of gas is a Molatov Cocktail and ONLY used to set something on fire. It has very little explosive character.... certainly nothing even approaching a grenade!!!

The other thing is, we can assume the occupants of a bunker would take issue of someone setting out there and shooting at the same place until they wore a hole through a concrete wall!

What are you going to do? Come out and shoot back at the 20 or so people who are shooting at your bunker???

An old timer I met once told me about his law enforcement days. Seems back in the 60's (I think) his department got to test out a .22LR fully-auto rifle of some sort or another. He scoffed at the idea at first, but then changed his mind when he saw the rate of fire. Said it sounded like a zipper it was so fast. They tried it on a 6"-thick concrete retaining wall of the sort you find in certain building applications, and he was amazed at how quickly that little thing at away at the wall.

Also, a good friend of mine was involved in a firefight in Iraq in which they were grossly outnumbered by local insurgents hiding behind women and children, and didn't have the authority to shoot back (no joke). They hunkered behind a tide wall near the river for cover, and the wall was slowly reduced in height as rounds hit the thing. The only reason he's still here is that two Blackhawks came to their rescue (and WERE authorized to return fire).

So yeah, enough bullets WILL degrade and compromise a concrete wall. But the question is - do you have enough time to make it happen? Another question is - is that the most efficient way to accomplish your objective?

Interesting article.

Thought it woud be kind of interesting see what peope think about it and how much faster you could do it with say a AK or M16.

Delene

Wouldn't a .44 magnum make quick work of it?

I've seen a variety of tests done were by "common" rounds are used to defeat
"cover;" It has caused my to reevaluate what is and is not cover.

The most memorable being where someone demolished two structures, one constructed of bricks and one of cinder blocks, with small arms fire using only offerings commonly found in LEO circle.
