I get very frustrated :( with Midsouthshooterssupply ("MSSS" from here-on-out) due to their software. If I start building and order and then come back either hours or days later to add something &/or place the order.... my cart is empty!
A nice lady at MSSS just told me that I should put all of my items into the "Wish List" and then switch each one over to the "cart" when I'm ready to order. That's fine but I've lost several shopping carts full of items over the years and find myself switching to MidwayUSA (MUSA) and building an order there instead so my items will stay in my "Cart".
Don't get me wrong, I like MSSS but their shopping cart software sucks as does their item search engine.
Does anyone else find this to be a problem................ or am I the only one who likes to build a cartfull and then "think about it" for a day or two before placing the order?

You could write down the item numbers on GASP! paper for quick reentry onto your cart

I say quit whining if you're unwilling to use the wish list feature. Heck at least they have one, I love grafs to death but with thier site you don't even get that. .

I keep a running shopping cart at Midway then when I get enough to justify shipping or when I get an E-Blast discount code then I pull the trigger. I have never "lost" anything in the Midway shopping cart.

I say quit whining........
I know, I know. I'm a whiner... but I did do more than whine. I actually followed though :

I wrote a lengthy email to Midsouth Shooter's Supply this morning and received this very nice response in return :

Hey Mr. XXXXX(my name is X'd out to retain annonimity) ,

Sorry for the problems with the shopping cart, we're working on revamping our entire website right now, the entire thing. Rather than band aid up the old one, we're starting from scratch. We do the whole thing in-house, just a few of us, and we do take your comments to heart. The web's only one part of what we have to tend with everyday, but believe me - it's an important one. Like you said, the impression that our site leaves can impact a lot of people without us even knowing what kind of damage it may be causing.

So, once again, sorry for the problems, really. Your feedback and your friends from the forum aren't falling on deaf ears. The upcoming changes should be the product of both the positive and negative comments we've compiled from the last few years. Look for those changes in October.

Thanks!

Michael Ryan

Like I said in my original post, I believe MSSS to be a fair, responsive & competitive retailer............... that happens to have a not-so-great website.

Make a folder in bookmarks on Firefox or IE, then save all the items in it as favorites, then you have them.

We've got to find you a hobby...

Mr. Walkalong, I'd love to do whatever it is that you're talking about but I'm from an earlier generation than you and I'm just not familiar with Firefox or IE or about a million terrabites worth of other computer ways of doing things. I still wear a watch to tell time.... that should tell you how behind the times (pardon the pun) I am!

I'll bet Midsouth loses a lot of business because of a poor web site. I also don't use Natchez because their search function is pathetic. MidwayUSA gets a lot of my business because their web site is one of the easiest ones to use.

I would shop more with Natchez & Midsouth, but their websites just aren't so great. The search function particuarly; and just general clumsiness.
Midway had a great site, though. Like another poster noted, I just pile stuff in my cart as I need it and pull the trigger when I REALLY need it, or when I have enough to justify shipping.
Also, Midway's search function actually works, and I like being able to ready people's comments, and make my own.

How do you tell time without a watch?

We're back to pocket watches. Except these days they're called cell phones. ;)

I haven't used the shopping cart at Midway lately. Does it follow you from computer to computer now? I used to use the wish list because the shopping cart would be empty when I logged on at a different PC

MinnMooney, if you are not up on all the computer tricks, just list what you want to buy in an e-mail and send it to yourself. Each time you think of a new gadget, just do a Reply and add it to the list. It's quick and works very well.

If you log in under your account, it will follow you from computer to computer but it has done that for a very long time.

Put the items in your wish list until you are ready to check out.

+1. The Wish List function is handy for that and other things too. What am I missing here?

"Embrace the horror" man. :D

My dad never owned a computer. My mom still doesn't.

Got any suggestions? :D

It amazes me how many really poor websites there are out there. I should go back to school (at my age:scrutiny:) and learn to do websites.

I have worn a beeper so many years (about 25) I quit wearing a watch and used the beeper to get the time. These days I have the cell phone as well. I am on call this week. I have to go check on the chillers for the Deboer bldg here in a minute. I would love to sneak out to the range today. I have a new toy, and 5 loads to play with, but sure as I head that way, that ol' beeper will go off. It's all good though, it helps pay for gun stuff.

Guess I didn't think about the cell phone. I don't carry mine much(don't really want to) and never wore a beeper. It surprised my kids when they found out that I knew how to text(slowly)! I'll be 50 this summer and I think I am behind most poeple my age on the electronic gadgets.

I don't whine about poor websites, I shop at other places instead. Point is, customer feedback is probably a good idea, as they are losing business to Midway because of their website.

If owned MSSS, I would like to hear from customers. If they aren't happy with the website, I would change it to accomodate them, so I can get more business.

You guys DO realize that the entire point of a wish list is to do EXACTLY what the OP wants to do? They have a wish list USE IT! The wish list is simply a shopping cart that the server remembers for a later date

MY GOD people the wishlist even has a button to move everything to the cart when you ARE ready to order.

This is like griping about THR not keeping you logged in when you're unwilling to use the (keep me logged in) checkbox.

Midawys wish list is kind of poor, but better than nothing. I have never used MSSS's wish list. I'll have to check it out, but if I have the favorites on my computer, with a backup in a couple of separate places, I know I'll have it later. I have favorites saved for companies all over the web. I could never remember where they all where without my favorites folders.

Let's see...I have that in a wish list....somewhere.....but where? :scrutiny:

But I do agree that wish lists are a good thing on websites. Very useful. I do like the one at Brownells. Very versatile, sort of like the one at Grainger.

I support Midsouth whenever I can. I have never had problems with midway either. I just ordered a Hornady case prep center from Midsouth that Midway has on backorder currently. With regular shipping I got it in 2 days. I rather my cart empty when I leave a site.
