In the market for a SBR, and I have found there are a lot of options out there. I want something I can make extremely small, so I am leading toward something with a folding stock. I have my choices narrowed down to these items. Please let me know if you have any experience with the following and if you would recommend one over the next. Also I would like to get a suppressor after a while. Thanks:

Robinson Arms XCR Mini 10'' Barrel: http://xcr.robarm.com/
Scar L 10.5" Barrel

SCAR 16S 10.5" Barrel: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=301667600

Sig Saur 551-A1 10" Barrel: http://www.sigsauer.com/CatalogProductDetails/sig551-a1-10sbr.aspx

Mini Galil (Hard to find)

Mini FAL: http://www.dsarms.com/Mini-SA58-FAL-OSW-Rifle-Semi-Auto-308-Cal----SA58OSW/productinfo/SA58OSW/

Any Suggestions would be great, thanks a lot!

7.62x39 is a very good candidate round for SBR IMO. So I would say maybe a draco ( or mini draco) sbr, or 7.62 krink?

Robinson Arms has absolutely atrocious customer service. The rifles are alright, but not worth the hassle if something happens to go wrong. I'd rule that one out.

SCARs are cool, but expensive and not really significantly better than any of the other rifles.

I'm drawn towards the SIG551 myself.

I have the Draco, but I also like my SIG556 with the folder and the collapsible stock on my V51P based SBR. If you want to stick with the AR platform, look for one of Al Zitta's LR300s or an Olympic Arms OA-93...both can use a folding stock as the recoil system has been moved up forward.

The only one I would rule out is the FAL. I'm a FAL fan but with a 13" or worse an 11" barrel I don't see the point of having a .308. I'd rather have a cheaper round that is more efficient out of a shorter barrel. Even 16" 308s have a lot of blast and flash.

Of the other three, unless money is no object and doesn't factor in at all, I don't think the SCAR is really worth $3K. What does it do $1K+ better than the others? Between the sig and the XCR, on paper I like the features of the XCR more. Its adjustable gas system is also very nice if you intended to shoot it suppressed. Both the USA sigs and the XCR had issues early. The best I can tell both companies seemed to have worked through that. Rob arms customer service was known to be very bad initially. I have read that major strides were made in that respect. I'd lean towards the XCR and the SCAR and probably go with the XCR as that SBR scar seems a bit overpriced IMHO.

Other Options:

I like draco and mini draco SBRs. The mini with a 7.5" barrel is rather compact. However, the OP states he wants to suppress it. One certainly can put a suppressor on either of those guns. I intend to do just that. However, they are not ideal suppressor hosts and are not rendered as quite as other designs.

Mini dracos also seem to be in short supply right now. This means the command a premium. Furthmore, if AKs are being considered the option of the PAP M92 PV Pistol with a 10" barrel should soon be available soon as well and deserves a look. A mini is only 16.5" long. However a folding mechanism will add and a little length, and it really needs a flash hider (the mini is a flame thrower) so depending on what you add (I'd recommend a vortex) that will add some length. Still it will be very short when folded, less than 20" I'd imagine. Furthermore, the x39 round does really well out of a short barrel. I don't recall the exact numbers but I want to say that it was doing about 2000 FPS over my chrono.

Another 7.62x39 option would be the PTR-32. After getting your stamp, you should be able to pull the end cap and add either a telescoping stock or a folder. The PTR takes AK mags, has an 8" or so barrel. Basically it is a slightly larger package than a MP5 but with a harder hitting 7.62x39 round.

You mention wanting something extremely small. I'm not sure what your intended uses
An SBR FN PS90 is smaller than all of your options. The PS90 SBR is 19.7". The short FAL is 34.5" unfolded and 25.25" folded, the Sig is 29.8 unfolded and 19.7" folded. The XCR mini is 20" folded.

I'm not sure of current availability, but I have seen SBR AUGs with a 14" barrel. For 5.56 you don't have massive velocity loss you get with a 10.5" gun yest you have a gun that is going to be (I'm making an educated guess) about 25" long.

Thanks guys for the input so far! I have been looking at the Draco's and I must say I am starting to like the setup. They are small, compact but still pack a punch, plus 7.62x39 ammo is quite a bit cheaper right now anyway. Plus AK mags are abundant, and there is a lot you can do with them. So thanks for the suggestions so far guys, its very appreciated

Its actually called a "Micro Galil" and they are freaking awesome (and expensive)! Whenever I go to the range, everyone checks it out.

Thanks guys for all of the help! As sweet as that Micro Galil is I think I am going to go with the Draco and build it into a SBR. It looks like a fun affordable project. I will keep you posted on my progress! Should have the Draco in a couple days, and then I will start with my Form 1. Thanks again!

Have you considered a PPS-43 pistol. They are in 7.62x25 and come with the folding stock, but with an SBR you can make the stock functional. The best part with them is they are relativly inexpensive, just under $450.

DSA/FAL I have been looking at these for a while, I would like to get one, compact size and sheer firepower. Everybody goes the .223 route for a SBR.

There is an Arsenal Krink/Pistol in 5.56 that would be a cool SBR project with all new Bulgarian and American parts. The downside is if you want to put a can on it i'm not sure the barrel can be concentrically threaded without removal.

That "Grizzly custom" is just plain WRONG on so many different levels........ and I love it :D

OP- good call going the Draco route. Yea, it lacks the flair of some of the options you listed, but in the end u end up with something that makes a lot more sense. You also end up shooting it a whole bunch more and worrying about it less. Good luck finding a Draco, the unavailability of them is what actually got me into building AK's :)

Keep us updated! We all love pix!

Oh, on a side note - if u ever decide to build another SBR, out of all the options listed by both you and the others, the PTR32 would be what I looked at :)

Czechpoint is ramping up to sell the VZ58 in short barrel pistol configuration, which would make it super easy to make an SBR, just as the Lord intended. With the folded stock, the thing is basically machine-pistol-sized (a good deal smaller/lighter than and AKM pattern)

AK-74u. I carry a Kel-tec PLR16. Basicly AR-15 pistol. Yep,fun! Dont really know your use purpose. But both good choices
