Shot .45 for the first time.

Yup, the first time. I'm almost 40 and this is my first go at .45. :what: Of course the last few months I was healing up after my wreck and I did not want to chance anything impeding that.

The gun was a Glock 21 rental, shooting some way off-Broadway ammo that I had never heard of but hey, you shoot their gun you shoot their ammo.


Recoil was not bad, the report did not seem as sharp as when I fire my G26.

It was accurate and fun to shoot.


On the downside it beat the hell out of my middle finger. Small price to pay though.


The most humorous thing was how fast the casings came flying out. I thought my 26 could spit brass but this thing had it beat to hell.

I took one off the face a bunch more off the head and one hit my ear protecter. That brass on plastic sound was louder that the gunshot itself!

So it was a great experience, and now I know I can handle a G20 but alas they do not have one. :(
 
Forgot to mention that the serial number was odd.

At the end instead of saying US it had a little pentagram.

The store guys had no idea what that meant.

Anybody here know?
 
Don't know about that pentagon, but I do know about the Glock 20/21. 10mm is very satisfying to shoot, flat trajectory and accurate. You will want to shoot it a lot, and it will get expensive.:) The .45 is not so satisfying, but still pretty good, and cheaper to shoot. If you get the 10mm, and you decide to reload to cut down ammo costs, use an aftermarket barrel, not the stock polygonal rifled barrel, and keep the pistol clean. Sounds like the ejector on that rental was worn, usually they go over the shoulder (even when shooting left handed).
 
NMshooter is right...the Glock 20/10mm is a whole lot of fun to shoot. One called to me from a pawn shop & it has become one of my favorites. It IS driving me back into reloading (which is a good thing). I also have the Glock 21...something about the way those large frames fill my hand.....

...oh yeah.

They (GLOCK) took the US suffix from the serial numbers awhile back...the pentagon is anyone's guess.

Are you trying to tell us something? :D

I like my Glocks, would like to pop in some different connectors to try different pull weights but haven't bothered with it yet, just like the plan to get a 9mm barrel for the 40 S&W G22, I just can't bring myself to buy accesories when I could buy other guns (hmm, barrel, or K-31?)
 
pentagram...666...Glock has 5 letters...Devil has 5 letters....coincidence? I think not:p

That being said, I have to reccomend shooting as many .45's as you can get your hands on. I actually prefer the .45's recoil over a 9mm, and find that shooting them can be a therapeutic experience. Have fun!

Congrats...the .45 acp is my favorite cartridge! in a 1911 of course!

But...I do like the G21 and the G30 also...Shhhhh! Who said that? :evil:
