Shot a Shield 2.0 in .45 ACP... pretty cool!

I might consider the 45 shield, haven't fired one but they do feel good in the hand. It is available without the safety, right?
Yes, mine does not have a thumb safety. Ironically, I manipulate it often, so for safety reasons it never leaves a Remora #3 holster. This is exactly the use case for which the thumb safety version was intended. But I don't think I may forget that the gun is safe and try to fire it, since it's in a holster, so it's better anyway.

Mine has the thumb safety and I like it for certain situations. I always flip off a thumb safety when I draw (even an imaginary one;). Raking my thumb down the frame and slide is just part of me lining up a shot.

So, I carry the Shield with the safety off in its holster. Because I have to secure my gun in my truck often and the holster I use is a bit loose fitting unless tucked to the body (the gun readily shakes out), I often draw the gun carefully, engage the safety, and secure it in the nano vault i have. It won't fit inside the holster, but it keeps handling the gun in tighter quarters a little safer.

I also use it when i travel. I prefer to have my pistol at the ready, so I keep it by the bed with the safety on.

I dont prefer a safety on a duty size polymer pistol like a Glock or 320, but those little guns have all their parts and piece and triggers close at your fingers. The shorter muzzle makes it easier to sweep yourself or others. If I have to handle them outside of their holsters, having a safety isn't a bad thing for me.

My .45 Shield has a safety. It was bought before the no-safety models started shipping. It's been a non-issue. It's very positive and has never self-engaged. I very rarely use it but like you I always swipe it off anyway because my first carry gun was a LW Commander.

I thought that Shield 45 was somewhere in between Kahr CW45 and XD-S in recoil. It's definitely noticeable and the grip is very thin. But I took mine to Steel Challenge and realized by the end of match that I didn't feel recoil at all. I was too busy waiting for the sights to return into sight box and making another shot. My hands were slightly tired perhaps, but didn't hurt.

The Kahr had more recoil and the Springfield had less? Or the other way around?

Never fired the Kahr but to my hands the Springfield XDS has more felt recoil than the Shield. It's grip texture can be painful to some and with the flush mag it's essentially P365 sized except for the 0.2" longer barrel.
It's definitely a smaller footprint than the Shield.

Shot my Shielf45 today. Had a very odd jam on Tuesday. Went by to try the reloads I made for it again today. Fired Brazosprecision 200gr LSWC, RNR 200gr RNFP, and Brazos precision 230 gr LRN.

I put together some RNR 200gr RNFP to see how it would shoot. Below is the shot group:

Overall not too bad. The cartridges shot well with no jams and recoil was real good. Overall though I think I may stick with Brazos Precision 230gr LRN. They may recoil a bit more, but it is not uncomfortable, and they always fire well with no jams yet. I like the 200gr RNFP, but they seem a bit light.

I got the Foxx IWB holster I was expecting for Christmas, and it's a great carry option for those of you wondering about an affordable holster made specifically for the .45.

Pretty dead simple. Leather base, molded kydex riveted to it, two adjustable over the belt clips. 30ish bucks and has bee comfortable all day.
