The thin blue line gets thinner, and we are all diminished by this cowardly act.

The "routine" traffic stop is a killer. But is it possible to stay alert after doing hundreds or thousands of them in your career?

Just the other day we had a CHP officer who, in attempting to kill the ignition on a suspected DUI, get dragged over a mile across the Bay Bridge. He fired his weapon several times and got away with a few minor injuries. Suspect was at large (but I bet he was caught b/c the license plate would lead inspectors to him).
