this 1911 is perfect, I shot 50 rounds of wwb and 8 rounds of federal premium 230gr hydra-shok JHP at 7yards.

I love the chrome on it and the GI look. I plan on turning this into something like Jule's from pulp fiction.

what's great is that my colt's barrel, FLGR, slide fits onto the norinco with a tight fit. looks like i can buy more aftermarket parts for it too. next purchase will be pearl grips, anyone have some for sale?

Anyone else here own a norinco? I had my doubts on this gun, but I am glad I picked it up.

At 7yards, I was able to shoot the same as my gold cup. I know the guns are more accurate than I can shoot. I groupings were the smaller than size of a tennis ball


I dont know how ivory looks on chrome, anyone have a pic?

I don't really trust Norincos, I've heard from a lot of people that the steel used is soft and needs a proper heat treating in order for it to function properly.

Is this with all Norinco models or is this how it use to be and now quality is up and on par with American standards?

You are kidding, right? Extremely hard steel. At least in the 1911. I've read different reports about their M-14 clone's bolt, but in the .45 auto, it's almost too hard.

I bought my Norinco Model of 1911 back in the 90's for approx $269 when they first came in as a cheap shooter. It isn't the prettiest, but man is it accurate. And reliable. Nowhere near as bright or shiny as yongx's stainless steel.

Norinco slides and frames are high quality. If you have those, you have a the makings of a fully functioning 1911, even if you have to replace other parts. I have one with most (if not all) of the internals replaced with national match parts. It is a tack driver. The only thing I don't like about it are the roll marks, but oh well.

Correction: Now that I think of it Samuel L. Jackson has a chrome 1911 in both movies.

You've been misinformed. The Norinco's are made with some of the highest quality, hardest forged steel on earth. Read the link daysleeprx provided.

I had a new nickel plated Norinco 1911 years ago and sold it. Someone please kick me.

The Norincos are getting better every shipment. Honestly, that's what people who have experience are saying. What's really popular up here are the Norinco single-stack 9mm 1911A1s. They are said to be very accurate, with better finish than 2 or 3 years ago, and some come with commander-style hammers and other nice things. Sights are still rudimentary, however (G.I. spec).

I have the .45 Government Model and am currently having work done on it that will cost more than the pistol (it cost $325 + tax CDN, brand new.) It is completely reliable when properly lubricated, though you need to use good magazines or you will get a stoppage on the last round with the Norinco magazines. Accuracy was crap (at 25 yards) but it tightens up significantly as you go in closer. I am probably the weakest link, and the insufficient accuracy is probably a combination of bad sights, bad grips, and a "standard" G.I. trigger, which all make shooting difficult for a novice. The barrel is good and chromed. I've never had a problem shooting silhouette targets with it. The elements I'm having work done on are the finish, grips, sights, and trigger, as the basic body is sound. Really, a stock Norinco only needs new sights, grips, and some kind of trigger job. It's much cheaper if you do it yourself, however, and the pistol is perfect in Canada for learning how to work on a 1911.

a friend of mine has the black/parkerized version and it is just as accurate as mine. no problems with it with wilson combat magazines. he was about to buy a RIA, but read in reviews that it was a hit or miss kind of deal.

Just want to share with you that I used to have 3. Sold the other 2 with much regret, due to some tight finances before. Have got 1 now a factory enhanced and still in box stock condition. Extremely reliable but not as a beauty compared to colt, springfields and other higher priced 1911s.

Redbecca; From what I have known NORC steels are the best in the 1911 brands right now. Here in RP g'smiths put more extra effort when they checker or engraved NORC 1911s.

A friend of mine run his NORC side by side against an almost new PARA PXT, guess what, the PARA broke its extractor. His NORC went chugging on.
