On a imported pump gun like the pardner protector, how many US parts are needed to make compliant so you can add a extended magazine tube? I find a lot of conflicting info on the web.

    Well, here's what 18 USC 922(r) says:
I'm not a lawyer, and I'm not giving you legal advice, but it appears to me that 922(r) only applies to semi-auto shotguns and rifles.

You as an individual in Tenn., can do anything you want to your gun as long as you don't run afoul of the federal regulations governing overall length, barrel length, and fully auto weapons. The rule you are referring to refers to importers, distributors, etc.

Virginian, 922(r) applies to everyone. Note the language "any individual" in the sub-section.

The way I read it, it applies to ANY semi auto rifle and ANY shotgun and that the semi auto only applies to the rifle.

You have to go back and look at the definitions under 925(d)c to see which firearms are prohibited from import in the first place.
