Earlier, I picked up an ex-Sacramento Police Department 870 Wingmaster. Very solid, great action, shot POA and patterend well. But, the finish as expected was rough. Very rough. Some signs or rust.

I'm fickle and vain when it comes to my toys. I like them clean and I like it when I am the one to put wear on them. Except for family heirlooms and some military surplus guns, I want them dings, scratches, and dents to be of my making.

I sent the 870 out to Mac's Shootin Irons in Tucson, AZ for Gun Kote over parkerizing. The results were fantastic. I added a Hogue 12" LOP stock, a 1 shot extension, a tritium front sight, side saddle, and have a picatinny rail enroute for the forearm so I can mount a light.

Between Speer LEO 8 pellet ammo and Hornady TAP, I'm getting solid patterns. I think I've created a solid HD shotgun.

The grey Gun Kote looks nice

Great job!! A real Cinderella 870, a solid tool for a few generations of Clan Gunznrovers, and a very clean looking weapon. Bet it shoots very good.

Light will be added when my forearm arrives next week.

No sling for HD, but I can slap one on in just a minute when needed. The extension has a side mount point. It's the sling in the "before" picture.

Mac's Shooting Iron's is the ticket from people I know who have sent their shotguns/handguns to him for a new finish. I have heard nothing but praise on his finishes. You did very well on this peice of history Gunsnrovers.

If I was in the wrong place at the wrong time, this is not what I'd what to encouter! You did well, Sir!

The biggest reason I got the +1 is that my primary desire was a front sling point and this seemed to be the best method. I don't like swivel cap sling mounts and I was worried about the plates that mount between the tube and the cap. The plate reduces the # of threads holding the cap on. Just seemed like an increased chance for it to come off.

That and I get to load a full 5 round box of ammo into the magazine and still leave it cruiser ready.

Very nice Jeff!

two thumbs up!

Nice. That's exactly how I want my 870 HD. Simple. I'm thinking of ditching the 2 shot extension on my 870 for the Wilson 1 shot with the exact position you have on yours. Seems like it would balance better. Mike

Very well done indeed. Always nice to see a Cinderella 870 brought home, cleaned up and given a new gown for the ball by someone who appreciates quality.

One more I don't have to worry about... 8^)

"Cindy in a new gown" :D :D Sums it up quite well.

Beautiful makeover on the old 870...always a Classic shotty no matter how it's dressed. From the 'ruff-n-tumble' farmhand to the Belle of The Ball.
