There's a Bushmaster AR-15 at my local FFL for 1499.99. I'm thinking it is kind of a rip-off(but with this craziness, I think I should just hop on it). Does Bushmaster have a good reputation? Or should I just wait for a Stag Arms AR to come around?

Bushmaster's a decent mid range gun. 1500's defiantly high but not as bad as you see on gunbroker. If you really want it don't take too long, even 500 over pre panic price I bet it won't be there long.

If you can wait 3-6 months by my estimation, that $1500 will take you aloooot further than a bushmaster.
That's tickling Noveske territory.

No. Wal-Mart is still selling Colt 6920s for $1097. Just go there and order one out of their catalog.

Living in Texas? No, I wouldn't.

But it's your money. If you want it now for the peace of mind of having one, understand there's a premium for that. Just remember that's what you're paying the premium for.

I ordered a Ruger 556 out of the catalog. They called in
to their distributor and were told it would take from one
to five weeks. The price was the same as it was in November.
They do require at least 50% down payment. I'm fine with
that. You don't have to buy a $800 Bushmaster for $1500.
I never thought that I would say it, but thanks, Walmart.

Thanks guys, I didn't know you could order from the out of the catalog at wal-mart. I'll stop by there tomorrow, thanks a lot.

Yes, buy that rifle. The extra money you spend on it will be nothing compared to the years of enjoyment you will get from it.

Went there yesterday and it was gone. Found an complete Stag Arms AR-15 Lower, though. Doubt it'll be there when I go today. Mostly using this for 3-Gun competitions and for "trouble".

TX Plinker, I keep hearing all of the reports how the various ARs are selling for $2K-$3K and all, yet it seems to me that there are plenty on offer that aren't bringing anywhere close to that. Just one rather random example, but is this (link below) the type of gun you're looking for? And click on the seller's other auctions and you'll find other ARs looking like they're about to sell in the $700-$900 range if not less. And that's just one somewhat random seller. There are thousands of other no-reserve AR auctions (various brands), many with a day or two left to go and they're in the $200-$600 range, some of them being the Stag Arms that you mentioned. I know a bunch of them aren't going to hit insane levels. Am I missing something here?

I was up in Plainfeild at mega sports burning some time and there AR stock is building up,so just lay back for awhile. I don't think you will ever see 800.00 bushies again, Like gas goes up fast but un- likely go low as it was.

Our cabelas gets bushy's for $799.... not a ton of them but my neighbor got one last week for $799.... I held it... not impressed. I like my DPMS and S&W much more.

When I check the catalog, it says "In stores only," and all the stores around have it "out of stock" with only an option to get an email when stock comes in.

So how does one order "from a catalog," even allowing for a wait time of weeks?

Thank you! But I don't like buying online, since my FFLs charge a stiff price for having it shipped to them. :c

I wouldn't spend $1,500 on a Bushmaster.

AR's are coming back to the market for reasonable prices, seems like the big run on these rifles is slowing down. For $1,500 you can get yourself into a Colt, BCM or Daniel Defense if you're patient.

Yeah... I'm gonna save the 1500 up for a Stag Arms 3G AR instead.
