I've been thinking that with the election getting closer every minute, it might not be a bad idea to stock up on some stuff just in case. In particular, I was thinking about buying

1) several AR lowers - probably 2 cheap ones (around $100 each) and maybe one name brand - any suggestions would be appreciated
2) Some magpul PMAG - I was thinking 10 FDE and 10 Black. I remember when 30 round mags were much more valuable and I'm just a little worried that those days might return
3) Some more 9mm hollowpoint. I'm a big fan of federal HST 147gr and I'm just worried that prices will go up again. At $30 for 50 it's really not that expensive right now.

My question is, am I just worrying too much? If not, is there anything else I should buy? Also, I'm not really an AR guy (prefer AUG's and H&K stuff but I'm not about to buy another AUG anytime soon). Any advice on what kind of lowers to buy would be appreciated. For now I'd just like to have the lowers in case they become hard to get. Is there a signifigant difference between a bargain lower in the $70 range and a name brand $180 lower (i.e. noveske)?

tomorrow when my paycheck clears im buying all the ammo at the BX.......... jk

i am acually picking up a few more pmags but nothing to do with the elections

Either way the election goes I think Hi Cap mags are in danger. If Obama wins I think it will be just like it was last time with everyone going crazy again.

To buy or not to buy, is a personal choice. Not sure what lower receivers will get you by themselves. A whole AR, maybe. But how many AR's and AUG's do you really need?

Now ammo, that's a different story, so yes if you don't reload than additional ammo would be a good investment. I don't see the prices going down and a good stock will keep you shooting even if there is another shortage, just don't go and buy the store out. A extra 2 or 300 rounds will not hurt.

For me the election results will be a mix of relief and the satiation of morbid curiosity.
Mere days after the election, there will be a sizable gun show at my local county center. Now, gun shows were actually banned at my local county center for years by executive fiat (county executive is a very powerful position in my home state), so the pent-up demand is still unspooling. Still, I'm curious to see how the results will affect turnout at the show.

Not a great time to stock up now with the bloated prices. Should of done it a while ago but yeah, get what you can afford.

Don't. We don't need more panic buying and this is what causes it. We have not recovered from the last one, and will never see the prices from before again.

Food, water, extra medicine. Now, you should already have a complete AR with ten magazines and plenty of ammunition. If you have a spouse, she should have one too.

Beans,bullets & bandaids

I try to keep ALL in a decent supply and not due to any one political event or weather thingy.

I would wait till after the election to see if its going to be a 'thing' or not.

If ob wins, then get nervous, not panicky.

New year's eve 1999 came and went. Nothing happened. All the other presidents got elected, not much happened. I think having a place to run to when SHTF in an economic collapse might be the better solution. All the city folks will be out of food in a week. Most of them haven't grown a garden and wouldn't know how to run a pressure cooker to save their lives. It won't be the election that causes chaos, it will be millions of hungry people wanting your food and water if the debt does cause a collapse.

A few years ago the anti gun politicians got is shoved up their butts to the point they will be very unlikely to give it another go anytime soon. That being said--we need to keep up the pressure and vote out any willing to insinuate they are anti 2nd amemdment. I doubt there will be a post election anti push. Hope I don't have to eat my words.

If you think buying no name lowers at $100 each is cheap then you have already bought into the hype and have lost.

If you have the resources then keeping at least one year ahead on supplies that you expect to use that may become hard to get is a prudent plan. As stated above if you are just now thinking about this you will already be paying too much IMHO. Me, I reload and keep 2 years stocks ahead as a minimum against inflation and take advantage of any sales when they are good deals.

Yes! Buy it all, now.

I have it on good authority from both Rush Limbugh, and Chicken Little, two self proclamed experts, that:

THE SKY IS FALLING!!!
CLUCK! CLUCK!

THE SKY IS FALLING!!!!!
CLUCK! CLUCK! CLUCK!

It doesn't matter who wins the Presidential race. Legislation has to pass through both houses of Congress, and it looks like they aren't going to be changing hands.

So, no. Don't panic buy.
