I think my screen name says it all. I shoot military competition matches. A few years ago in Vermont, after the real match was over, several of us brought out our toys. I had my Glock 19 with me. The Range Officer told us that he had a partial case of 9mm to use up..anyone want to help out? One of the other NY shooters pulled out a Sig 226 and 228. I had never shot a Sig before. So...as a comparision, I loaded 5 rounds into a Beretta 92...rack gun of course...and at 25 yards put together a group that a #10 coffee can lid would cover. Then I loaded the Sig 226 and put together a group that really blew my mind...3" group dead nuts center! I was in love instantly!! The 228 shot a similar size group as well. 3 weeks later, I was laying money down for a brand new P226 in .40. I wouldn't trade my baby for the world!!

By the way...I really love my SIG!!!!

Handle before buying

I have a Sig 226 in 9mm and like it a lot, and you probably will too. But handle it first if at all possible so you know first hand what you're buying.

Excellent choice! I have one in .40 and love it. Never failed to work, easy to clean, nice weight to it. Get some Hogue grips and you're done!

I have shot my dad's (Ohio State Patrol) many times (200 + rounds), and I have to say that it does seem like a really reliable, well built gun. He gets to buy it for $1 when he retires, and if it doesn't mean that much too him (unlikely), I would like to purchase it from him.
