Sig 232 handgrip thickness options

As I've not yet owned a handgun, and my interest has shifted away from the P-64 to either a Bersa Thunder (more pleasant recoil) or Sig 230/232, almost every Sig 232 photo depicts fairly thick grips. a friend's Bersa has thin grips.

Are thinner, inexpensive grips available in the US for the Sig 232?

Whenever I buy one, the decision Whether to /carry' or not won't be made for a while.
IF the decision is For carry, thin grips might be the only way I would consider potential carry-other than just in the car.

I hanen`t found any slim grips for the 232, try and hold one, it may be ok. guess it depends on your hand size. Mine fits my hand just right. Great gun by the way.

I can sort of, kinda answer. I have wood grips on both my Bersa and Sig. The Sig grip is quite a bit thinner. If I knew you better, or you invited me to dinner or something, I'd change the grips to plastic and measure. Maybe I will anyway. We'll see how the day goes.

With the Sig you have original, wood or Hogue rubber grips to choose from. Bersa offers original and wood.

If you really want thin in a metal .380 small frame then the Walther PPK/S is thinner than either in the grip.

usp9: Don't bother with measuring. Thanks anyway. My shirts are always tucked in and "carry" might not work here most of the year, wearing just shirts but no jacket.
Stop by Cordova/Memphis TN and I'll be glad to let you shoot my guns, or can go in a sober capacity to the Flying Saucer, for a wide variety of alien (true-foreign) beers.

The P64, being 9mm mak and small has a rather harsh recoil, IMHO. I prefer the Sig to the Bersa because of the incredibly great grip the Sig offers, but recoil wise, they are too similar to differentiate in the light alloy Sig model. The heavier stainless Sig is, IMHO, a lighter recoiling gun than the Bersa.

pretty much agree with usp9. Will say that I have a PPK/S and a Bersa Thunder CC model but not a Sig 232. The Bersa is a fine pistol and a great bargain. The Sig is a jewel I would very much like to own again. If you can afford a 232, I doubt you'll be sorry. Still, the Bersa is a lot of gun, not just a lot of gun for the money.

Will be able to justify a Sig to the wife, as long as purchases are spread out.
First need to rent the 232 at a range which had sent this rental gun
out for repair: long-term heavy use.

If the trigger is similar to a friend's Sig P228, it should be decent.

There's several thinner grip options for the P232.
You're right, though - the rubber Hogue grips that are shown in most pictures are the chunkiest of the P232 grips. But they feel sooooo good!

For thinner, you have:
1) plastic grips from a P230 - they'll fit.
2) Hogue G10 Pirranha's
3) Hogue aluminum grips (very expensive)
4) Wood grips from several makers, including Sig themselves.

P232 = sexiest gun alive in my opinion.

After twice going to an excellent indoor range near here, their rental Sig 232 was out of operation both times.

Have no idea why it went out for repair several weeks ago.
Today a staffer finally found it up on a shelf (not in the normal display case), cocked it but the trigger did nothing. Maybe an improper part was installed?

It would be nice to call them in a few weeks and finally have the gun operational. Maybe renters drop them or otherwise abuse them somehow?

With reference to the recoil comparing the Sigs to the Bersa I would tell you that the P230 has a stainless frame while the P232 has an aluminum frame. I find the recoil of the P230 is lighter than the P232. I have one of each.

If you are interested in smaller size (the SIGs ) are large with respect to other .380 pistols like the KAHR. If size and weight are important considerations then the KAHR is a fine choice.

For accuracy sake; Both p230 and p232 can be found in either stainless or alloy frame. The current model, regardless of finish has a stainless slide though, rather than the carbon steel slide on the blued models a few years ago.
