My older SIG 239 in 9mm is a great shooter . . . however, I have several other pistols in 357 SIG. Is it possible to use a conversion barrel in my 239, with appropriate recoil spring and magazine, and get 357 power out of the same frame, etc.?

What are the consequences? I don't want to bust a nice shooter, nor spend the $$$ to duplicate it in 357!

    Any ideas?

If it was a .40 cal P239 it would be as easy as buying the new barrel and some ammo. For the 9mm variant I'm not sure if you can do that safely. In any case, you would certainly need new mags, and probably a new recoil spring. In fact, you'd probably need a new slide since the case head dimensions are different - the 9mm ejector, and bolt face wouldn't be right for .357Sig.

If I were you I'd just keep shooting it as a 9mm. Ammo is way cheaper, so if you really want one in .357, just save the difference in ammo price each time you buy a box and once you have enough saved go out and buy a P239 in .357Sig. Won't take you too long, depending on how often you shoot.

No, it's not possible to covert a 9mm into a .357Sig with a barrel swap. As mentioned, you could have converted a .357Sig (or .40) into a 9mm w/ a conversion barrel (not factory), but not the other way around. Once a 9mm, always a 9mm.

    Thanks for the info!

Hey, thanks a lot. I was suspicious that might be the case, so I guess I can start saving the shekels, since I really like that 239!
