I'v seen sig's p229 with three barrel's on gun brocker.com,in three diffrent caliber's. in 9mm 357sig and 40sw.
Now I know you can swap barrel's between 40sw and 357sig's but,howbout if I got a sig p226 in 9mm can I swap the barrel to a 357sig?
is it possible??
Any info appriciated.

I'm not 100%, but I'm going to say no. The 9mm barrels are usually smaller in diameter than the .40 barrels. So you can take a .40 blank and cut it to 9mm, but I don't think a .40 barrel will fit into a slide made for a 9mm, if that makes sense.

You have to have the .40/.357SIG guns and go "down", you cant go "up". I'm also pretty sure SIG doesnt even offer the 9mm barrels to do the swap, you have to go aftermarket.

Just get one in .357SIG, you probably wont use the others once you get it. :)

The 9mm bolt face is not the same for .40/357 as 9mm. And I know the 9mm barrels are dimensionaly not the same. Plus the 9mm slides are lighter. So I don't think so....

AK103K has it right.

If you have a .40 or .357 you can swap factory barrels as you please. To go from .40 or .357 to 9mm, you need an aftermarket barrel, typically Bar Sto.

You can't go from 9 to either .40 or .357.

Also...

Most conversion barrels are different than a standard factory barrel.

A .40 or .357 gun that has a 9mm, has a 9mm barrel that has been subtly adjusted to work in the gun. Its not just a stock 9mm in a larger diameter to fit the slide. The headspace has been tweaked, and it has been modified to work with the existing extractor. Conversion barrels are much more clever devices than most realize.

And that's the reason, in addition to wrong diameter, that stock 9mm barrels won't work in a .40.

(Some guns, like some models in the the EAA Witness line, have the barrels that can be interchanged; they were designed from scratch to do that. Most guns can't do that.)

I have the Sig P229 with the 40/357 Sig barrels. I have no interest in spending the money for a Bar-Sto that may or may not work correctly for 9mm. Conversion barrels can be tricky. Never could get my 400 Cor-Bon barrel to work 100% in my SA 1911A1 GI. As a matter of fact, I got so frustrated I went and bought a Dan Wasson Razorback in 10mm and never regretted it. But since the Sig 40 S&W and 357 Sig Barrels were DESIGNED to be swappable, I have never regretted buying the other caliber barrel.
