DA/SA or DAO.. ?

Couple of years back a young man w/his girlfriend let me shoot his DAO 226..

I thought it was a 45, as we struck up a conversation about his DAO and my DA/SA P220R/45..

He asked me if I'd like to shoot it and I did, with joy -

I was sure it was a 45cal, as it was so docile, balanced, and the trigger was pure heaven, this side of SAO..

I found out thru embarrassment when I handed him my 220/45 to try the DA/SA and shortly after he hands it back saying "this is a 45cal, my 226 is a 40cal..

I was out of 45 ammo so I asked him if he would like to try my Beretta Px4 40 DA/SA and he engaged my target at 18ft and asking if it was a G-model, which I said yes, he decocked it, took aim at the wrist (my COM and head splash targets were filled with holes) and with the first shot, then the next 9 in SA, he made a hole smaller than 1", about the size of a nickle, the only, first, DA shot was out of the hole about 1/2"..

He smiled and said, "hmmm, Beretta Px4 40 w/rotating barrel, never heard of it but I like it.." As did I like, what I thought  was a Sig P220/45, his DAO Sig P226/40 - one soft shooting/balanced/accurate 40cal shooter, "for sure"

Good to know he was such a good sport/fellow shooter/ and a LEO for Santa Barbara down visiting his girlfriend for the weekend..

3 of the best, soft shooting, balanced, 40cal guns around, IMHO

P226/40
Px4/ 40
P229/40 (of which I own 2)

I prefer the older SIGS. But a 226 is a wonderful thing to behold and shoot. WIth the .40 you can buy a .357 SIG and 9mm conversion barrel. throw in a .22 conversion kit and you've got a 4 caliber gun.

I had the P226 ST version in .40, that's one I still regret selling.
Of course my P220 ST keeps me from crying about it.

I think , you should give me this obscure gun , I'll test it out .. and report back .. no sense in you uh.. something.. something Can I have it ? . seriously though, They are soft shooting, accurate, and outstanding firearms. I own a 226 in 9mm, and a 229 in 40 s&w. wouldn't part with either of them .

hello im in the process of buying a 40 sig,my frist choise was a 357 sig in these two guns which do you belive to be better for selfdefence and to carry everyday,

The only real benefit of the .357SIG over a 9mm +P is the necked cartridge, it virtually eliminates feed problems. When you shove a .355 bullet into a .40 chamber it fits everytime. I bought a .357SIG P226 from CDNN in 2000, it has over 10,000 rounds of .40S&W and nearly 2,000 of .357SIG, not one failure of any kind. I rarely shoot the .357SIG these days, just too expensive to practice with, a lot of fun to shoot though. Congrats on the purchase of your P226 in .40S&W, I have kept mine as a .40 most of the time, it did night stand duty for many years, except for the outside of the barrel it still looks like new.
