DA/SA or DAO.. ?
Couple of years back a young man w/his girlfriend let me shoot his DAO 226..
I thought it was a 45, as we struck up a conversation about his DAO and my DA/SA P220R/45..
He asked me if I'd like to shoot it and I did, with joy -
I was sure it was a 45cal, as it was so docile, balanced, and the trigger was pure heaven, this side of SAO..
I found out thru embarrassment when I handed him my 220/45 to try the DA/SA and shortly after he hands it back saying "this is a 45cal, my 226 is a 40cal..
I was out of 45 ammo so I asked him if he would like to try my Beretta Px4 40 DA/SA and he engaged my target at 18ft and asking if it was a G-model, which I said yes, he decocked it, took aim at the wrist (my COM and head splash targets were filled with holes) and with the first shot, then the next 9 in SA, he made a hole smaller than 1", about the size of a nickle, the only, first, DA shot was out of the hole about 1/2"..
He smiled and said, "hmmm, Beretta Px4 40 w/rotating barrel, never heard of it but I like it.." As did I like, what I thought
was a Sig P220/45, his DAO Sig P226/40 - one soft shooting/balanced/accurate 40cal shooter, "for sure"
Good to know he was such a good sport/fellow shooter/ and a LEO for Santa Barbara down visiting his girlfriend for the weekend..
3 of the best, soft shooting, balanced, 40cal guns around, IMHO
P226/40
Px4/ 40
P229/40 (of which I own 2)
