I bought a slightly used Sig (my first) for $450. It came with 3 Sig mags & 3 Mecgars. It's a W. German gun with the box, target & owners manual.

Did I get it for a fair price?

Yes you did. Maybe even better than fair, depending on condition. You might want to check Gunbroker's "advanced" feature and look at completed sales of the 226 to see what folks paid for them.

My 226 is one of my favorites (also W. Ger) and I bought the .22 conversion kit....so i could practice with the same trigger at a lower cost.

Yep. It'd be a steal in my neck of the woods. The worn American-made police trade-in 226s in 9mm are even getting more rare, but I still see those around here for $450-500 -- now the West German pistols seem to command a premium (ever more so with the 228s) and normally go for $100-200 more.

I seriously wish I could find on in CA.

Our dopey laws mean I have to find one already in the state, then, because it is "rare" (aka cannot simply buy one) it commands a premium.
I have seen a used West German go for $1200.

Sweet! Great find! Please post pics.

I love the way the P226 fits my hands! I'm saving for a 9mm conversion barrel and mags for my 40. P226.
