I finally got the chance to try one. It's a super-reliable 9mm Micro with the 1911 manual of arms, a good trigger and good sights. Sure, I heard they were snappy, but that usually doesn't bother me. What's not to love?

The fact that it hammers into the bottom of my trigger finger in recoil so hard it's getting annoying after only three magazines. That's 18 shots. That sucks, because I love the gun otherwise. But I like to shoot my guns, and I can't shoot this one as much as I know I would want to. It's no fault of the gun; it's just an unhappy combination of this gun with my hands. I know people that have them and don't have this issue but unfortunately it just doesn't work for me. I suppose I could muck about with Pachmayrs or some other grips but it's just not worth the trouble when I already have guns that fill this niche.

Sigh.

Oh well, I still love my P365. I'll just have to be content with that.

This is my edc. Portability and power of 9mm in a 1911 setup are what I was looking for.

Shooting it took a bit of a different approach compared to a normal auto. For me, I can only get my middle and ring finger on the grip frame. My pinky tucks underneath the mag. When I shoot the 938 I let the pistol roll upwards and back in a controlled motion, like when shooting a single action magnum revolver.

If you try to hang onto the micro 9's with an ultra firm grip, that recoil is gonna go somewhere, many times to a single spot like a finger or point in the web of your hand.

Maybe this will work for you. Good luck!

P938 is my EDC. I replaced the trigger with a Tillamook (stainless) trigger years ago. The original polymer trigger gave me the same problem you described. I suppose the extra weight of the stainless trigger changed things enough that I no longer have that issue. Not sure if the Tillamook trigger is still available. There used to be other aftermarket metallic triggers available…

Are you able to use a +1 mag with your P938? I've got a couple of the P238's and don't enjoy them with the flush fit 6 round mags. It's not unmanageable, just uncomfortable with my pinky hanging out there doing nothing. +1 extension completely changes how the gun feels and how I shoot it.

Had one many moons ago. Attractive package, especially for a SAO aficionado. Sold it a month later. Just not shootable. It's a compromise pistol that time should have left behind.

The extended mag helps a lot! If your hand is not huge, you can ge all 3 fingers on the grip/extension. I find mine very easy to shoot and control.

I was talking to a guy that had a similar issue with one with his fingers. He tried hornadys “lite” defense ammo and said it made a difference… dunno; I shoot a 365

I'm really not a 1911 guy. I love my Springfield 1911 45acp Loaded, but that is it. The Kimber cds9 looks appealing.

I rented a 938 to try it out at the indoor range, really liked it.

Found it to be accurate and less perceived recoil than my .380 LCP.

My only problem is I’ve always been trained on handguns with no safety to manually push off, revolvers and Glocks, don’t trust myself at this stage with having to do that in a critical moment.

OP, hope you find a solution.

What ammo are you running through it?

Shoot standard pressure 147 gr., both Speer Lawman ball and Federal HST, and have no problem whatsoever.
