> products include a button cell battery which is not in child-resistant packaging as required by Reese’s Law.

If a children can get the battery out of this gunsight on the gun, you got a bigger problem than the battery.
Every once in a while I do wonder what these people do late at night....
230,000 sights involved.

As I read it, recalled Sig Sauer Romeo 5 sights with serial numbers in ending K or M are getting battery cover caps and manuals with the product safety warnings on the poison danger from swallowing the batteries.

The packaging of the batteries with the Sig Sauer Romeo 5 red dots with serial numbers ending K or M do not have warning against poison danger of swallowing batteries? Presumably Rome5s with serial numbers ending other than K orM are not affected

The recall notice reads No known incidents have occurred. But proper warnings against swallowng the batteries are not on the battery caps or in the manuals with the sights with serial numbers NOT ending K or M.are not affected by the recall.

I was gifted a rifle with a Sig Sauer Romeo5 red dot sight preinstalled. Haven't looked at my serial number yet.

Well crap, was hoping the recall was for the crappy torx mounting screw that strips like pot metal.
I have two of those dangerous sights. Had them off many times . I switch sights and scopes because I have ants in my pants. The included tools and screws have fit as expected. I'll bet your tool was defective. Or your a real strong and manly dude. In that case , manly sir.

I got the email today. I just got my Romeo 5 sighted in a couple days ago. I don’t feel like taking it off just to get a pic of the serial number.

Legions of maggot lawyers waiting to drain gun companies of their money thru filing in sympathetic courts (like Brooklyn :) )
people who let their children ingest their reddot batteries shouldn't own fire arms and really need mandated help with child custody.

- If after battery insertion, how does one "child-proof" the battery cover?
- If the battery hasn't been inserted, and the new battery packaging is the issue, why recall the whole 230,000 units rather than send a new battery... newly packaged ?
- If the cover can't be 'child-proofed' in any conventional sense, and only a warning label will do to satisfy the law, why recall the whole 230,000 units just instead of sending a new cover?

He asks......

One of the very first Bill Engvall “here’s your sign” things was the desiccant packets in electronics. This is right in the same ballpark. Speakers and gum isn’t very far from dot sight and m&ms. Some people really are dumb, and the government forces us to cater to them… so Sig is literally giving them a sign to put on their sight. I’m not even going to look at my sights to see if they are affected or not.

How did they know you have it ?
I ordered it online so i’m assuming my email was in the system maybe.

The new cap doesn’t have any knurling on the outside. I guess that’s their way of making it harder to unscrew for a child. Again as stated earlier no child should have access to a firearm anyway. As for the label it’s moot point to me I plan to paint the ar anyway. IMG_7095.jpeg

Is this a mandatory recall or only if you wish to have the updated cap?

If that's the "compliant" battery cap (with new "warning" I note,
why not just send new caps out instead of demanding whole
gunsight be returned, "fixed," and sent back out ?

You need to go back an reread the document you linked to in the OP.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled firearm sights and contact SIG SAUER for instructions on how to submit a picture of the serial number to receive a free recall kit, which includes a new cap with the required labeling and an updated instruction manual. Consumers will be provided with instructions on how to locate the serial number.

The next time my youngest grandson is playing with my AR and mini thirty I'll watch him more closely.
They can jump in the lake
This Cat In The Hat has eight teeth so I had to take my G40 away from him because he scratched the finish in the tub.
