I picked up a 229 DAO LEO trade in at a great price I think 329.99 with three magazines . I am debating sending it to sig to have it changed to DA/SA . They charge 199 for this . Does anyone have any experience with this ? I have heard it is not difficult but I cannot find anything on you tube does anyone know if there is some place I can find instructions any help would be appreciated .

has anyone done this ? and if so how difficult is this ? I looked on several forums and some people say its fairly simple but I would like to see it done so I can judge if I can do it . I cannot find any you tube videos on this so that worries me . Any help would be welcome ,

I’ve done the swap from DAO to DA/SA twice on P226’s. As the previous post mentioned, I probably only saved between $50 to $100, but I tinker on guns for fun.

There aren’t any YouTube videos specific to the change, but here are some I saved that cover complete frame disassembly and reassembly. I just found the applicable portions in those.

With all parts in hand and working slowly, it took about 30 minutes the first time and about 15 minutes the next time.

If you’re not comfortable doing a full disassembly and reassembly of slide and frame on a Glock, you might not want to try. If you’ve done that or the equivalent, you should be competent for this.

My motto: Anything that another man can make, I can figure out. (Sometimes it takes awhile, though!)

I did my Ex-NYPD 226 for about $57 worth of parts and an hour of messing with it to get it back together. I couldn't believe the crud that came out of what appeared to be a semi-clean gun when I got it apart. The locking block was the hard part, I don't know why it was so hard, but once I got it back in correctly, I took it out again and it went back in without any issues. The sear was a joy too, but that's just because my fingers were too stubby. I did it while watching a youtube video.

Where did you find the parts for $57? The hammer alone is close to $40 by its self.

I had a P245 that came DAO (true DAO, not DAK), and it was a GREAT trigger, and I left it alone until I sold it. Whoever had it before me, had the gun converted to DAO by SIG, and the gun came with the original DA parts when I bought it as well.

Personally, Id shoot the DAO until I knew for sure that I didnt like it. SIG's true DAO triggers are super nice, and very easy to shoot well with, once youre used to them. Seems like a lot of people are afraid of it.

I converted the P245 back to DA when I sold it, as it was just wasnt selling in the DAO configuration. Probably why I originally got it at such a good price. :) I sold it for mre that I paid for it too.

I have one of the armorer CD's for SIG's that covers all the origianl P series guns, and it was easily done. If youre the least bit handy, its not at all hard.

Well Folks after watching some you tube videos I bought the parts 84 dollars and did it myself I broke it all down decided that I might as well replace the trigger spring sear spring recoil spring soaked it down cleaned it and put her back together and shes like brand new , thanks for all your input

the other springs were not included in the 84 dollar I quoted that was an additional 29 dollars still a huge difference in what Sig wanted to charge

Good for you and you save some cash doing it! Let us know how it does at the range with the new trigger!

I'd look for an even trade. Some people like the DAO. I personally despise the Dak, Dao, LEM guns. But usually they actually sell a bit higher.

That said, I'm sure you will have no problem. It's not all that hard to do.

Well team meant too do this update a while ago but I took Sweet William out to the range a few days ago and happy to report He ran awesome , for around 430 dollars I own a sig p229 da/sa pistol that runs like a champ . I like it so much that it will not get out of my EDC rotation the only time I havent carried my Sig in the last few weeks is when The wife drug me to the mall with her and I pocket carried my G43 , I highly recomend a leo turn in

Where did you buy your parts? eBay?

I liked the plain old DA better than DAO on most Sigs, but my P220's DAK is amazingly good and just came that way as an LEO trade in. My P226 SSE's DA trigger is not nearly as good as the LEO trade in "base" P226 I switched over from DAO, but it's not bad. If I could combine the DA trigger of the P220 DAK, and the SA trigger of my ex-NYPD P226 gun, it would be perfect. A fantasy, I'm sure.
