Sig Sauer P365 for concealed carry

I would suggest you try one out before you buy.
My girlfriend bought one around January, ended up selling the thing. Both of us struggled shooting it, both of us found the grip too small. I found it a lot harder to draw the pistol and fire than any other gun I own, I could run circles around it with my S&W Shield.
She replaced it with a CZ Pcr.

That's weird. With the 12-round magazine installed, the grip is the same size as a Glock G19. I have XL hands and find the P365 with the 12-round magazine and a $12 Hogue grip sleeve to be ergonomic Nirvana for me.

The 365 is a perfect pocket carry summer gun for me. Shoots great as well. If recoil is a concern for the misses take a look at the Walther CCP reduced recoil 9mm. My wife loves hers. Easy to rack and recoil is very mild.

G43x/48 should be looked at for the OP. The G48 with the Shield Arms 15 round magazines is the CCW I’ve been waiting for, displaced my CZ PCR for main carry duties which was hard to do.

It is essentially a slim G19.

I had rented a P365 to find out what all the hype is about. It was immediately purchased to use as a summer carry gun in the Texas heat. It ended up replacing my G19 and G26 after about thirty years as a year-round carry gun.

I can shoot the P365 faster and more accurately than the G26 but most importantly, with the 15 round magazine I can positively grip the gun from concealment in an IWB holster and shoot a double tap without loosing the positive grip.

Try the hellcat as well, slightly better capacity and I think its 14 round mags look and feel better (all relative).

Of the sig, ec9 and HC the latter grouped best and fastest in my hands. If money is tight and you both want to carry there is nothing wrong with the ec9.

In my case a dab of reflective nail polish pilfered from my wife upped the ante :).

Strong argument for any of the above as an "only" pistol if the addiction doesn't claim you!

If you don't mind, what does a rig like that cost?

The p365XL with optic was had from GB for about $700 buy now (I got two). They are running around $850 today. The TLR-6 light goes for just over $100. I got the extra 15 rd. mags at $40 a piece but they are running around $70 today. The SR Tribute holster was under $250 but less expensive if you don't get Oxblood and basket weave. The double mag holder was $110 but again, less expensive if you don't get Oxblood and basket weave. But hey, I figured I was getting a holster for the rest of my life so I splurged a little. So as it sits it the cost me around $1250.. It would be maybe just under $1400 today because of the current panic prices. It shoots great. The optic and laser have held zero for six months and maybe 750 rds. Here's the setup without holster:

I have a Ruger EC9s. I enjoy shooting it. Small enough for ez concealed carry. It has a decent balance in hand. At the same time it has a comfortable grip even if you have larger hands. The price is nice, too.

Just to reiterate and I’m sure there are other guns out there but I think the big 3 in no particular order right now for carry are:

Sig P365/365xl
Glock 43x/48 (shield arms mags)
Springfield Armory Hellcat

Personally, out of the new striker CCW pistols its hard to argue with either of these three.

Im partial to the Glock 48 and the P365xl lengths, barrel length for me is easy to hide IWB and I like having the extra sight radius and barrel length for velocity.

1. Yes. 2. Yes. 3. No.

If I pocket carry, generally, I go down to a Glock 42 in .380. I occasionally will carry the P365 in a pocket, but only if I am not planning on getting the fastest, snag-free draw out of the pocket. Aside from that, the P365 checks all of the boxes for me. It is an amazing package for its size, and one of the nicest firearms I ever have carried.

Why are you aligning to the trigger guard and not the beavertail? where you will have your highest purchase?

The guns are not comparable size wise. Both are fine but different "classes"

Because most people compare pistol grips based on how many fingers they can get on the grip. A P365 with a 12-round magazine, from the trigger guard to the tip of the magazine, is the exact same length as a G19 with a 15-round magazine.

I never said the P365 and the G19 were comparable size-wise or in the same class. I simply said the grips are the same length, and that the G19 grip was thicker. I swear gun people must be the most bored people on the planet to try and argue over stuff like this.

Im a new gun owner this year myself. I ended up getting a 365 Red Box edition for $430. Its a factory refurb from Sig. I've only put 100-150 thru mine but I carry it everyday. Most days it kept in the console in my car. Mine is a none safety version though. I like how it fits in my hand, I carry with the 10rd magazine with the pinky extension.

Thanks for all the feedback!

We became gun owners earlier this summer. Never fired a gun previously. We have several long guns now, but have been hesitant to get a handgun due to having smaller children at home (8 and 10).

We’ll keep the Sig in mind. We still have to do more research and complete our paperwork for our CPLs.
Another good choice to research is a Taurus G3c. I bought one for a truck gun. Reasonably priced, manual safety (required for me as I'm a 35 year 1911 guy), 12+1 capacity if that's important to you, and utterly reliable. As was said before - if you want a thumb safety on a pistol, make sure you train with it until it becomes second nature. When the SHTF, you'll be glad you don't have to think about it. Work your way up to a 1911 in 45acp. You'll be glad you did!

I had a P365 and P365XL, but when Glock released the 43X I sold the Sigs and went with the 43X with the Shield Arms 15 round magazine as my every day carry. I shoot the 43X better and had too many issues with the Sigs to feel comfortable relying on them as carry guns. Sig has apparently corrected those issues and replaced mine before I sold them, but I like the 43X too much to make a change. I pocket carry, and the 43X is on the large side of that, but I dress around it and make sure the pockets of any pants I buy are large enough and the pants are loose enough to do so.

Edited to add: OP, if you do buy a P365 buy either a new one or one that was manufactured recently. The early ones had a number of problems which Sig corrected.

Have a few questions regarding the Sig Sauer P365:

1.) How do you like the gun? Any issues?
2.) Is this a decent concealed carry gun?
3.) Are there other guns at this price point or lower that you like better?

Looking at options for my wife and I for our first handguns. Looking for something we can conceal carry in our pocket once we get our CPL. We took the course, just need to do the rest at the city clerk office now.

I also looked at the Ruger EC9 and LC9. I shot a Glock 17 at the CPL course and liked it, but seems too large to carry in my pocket.

Appreciate any input or recommendations. Thanks!

I use to carry an LC9 replaced it with an EC9S which was a better weapon at the end I really like the LC9 but the trigger began not firing the weapon when i pulled it right away I had it pulled all the way and wouldn't release the hammer unless i shook it a little not every time but once is to much. Ruger wasn't interested in helping me told me I should take it to a gun smith. I found the EC9S at Academy for $199.00 so I got it. Was a good carry weapon i never did like the magazine safety where the weapon won't fire if the magazine is removed. I kept on going back and forth if I wanted to spend the money on the sig P365. When one became available at academy a few months ago I went ahead and got it. So glad I did, it is now my everyday carry
