I just purchased a SIG SHR 970 (recommended by a THR member-thanks) and this thing flat out shoots...right out of the box. Given the price and the quality I would have thought these would be very popular but I rarely see anyone discussing them. Anyone else out there own one of these? What has your experience been with it?

i had a need, a cdnn catalog, and knew that if it said SIG on the side... everything would be alright...

I've got a 7mmMag synthetic. I like it. I posted a request for accessory availability a while back and got no responses. I guess its just a real oddball.

Oh this is a terrific rifle. Heck of a bargain. But they stopped import of it just as word on it got out. Don't know why, as the rifle is still made outside this country. They just aren't importing anymore.

You do know it was possible to switch barrels and calibers in a couple minutes. Was the reason I purchased one. About one month later they stopped supporting the rifle. Price of barrels left in the USA quickly went up to what I paid for the whole rifle. A shame, and one I don't understand on the part of the company making them.

I took a nice little buck with mine this year. Mines chambered in 30-06, with a Leupold Vari-X II 3-9 on it. I also have the synthetic stock. Great rifle.

I wanted one and did investigate it but I couldn't find one in .308. The ones I did look at in 7mm and 30-06 were well constructed and finely crafted. The few people whom I knew owned one said the out of box accuracy was superb. Through chance I found a 2 month old Ruger Model 77 Mark II VT in .308 sitting on the used gun rack at gander MT. For 400 bucks. It looked as if it was never fired. I could only surmise that someone bought it for hunting and decided the heavy barrel was too much to lug around. It has been a sub moa shooter so I didn't go wrong with it.

I'm sorry to hear their not available anymore because they were a good value and a sharp rifle.
