I picked up a Bubba'd Mosin Nagant carbine.Composite stock and a poor coldblue job. I gave $80 for it. My question is, being already modified, what other mods could I do inexpensively, to make it a little bit better shooter. Particularly, the sights. Are there any decent options?

Sights? The only aftermarket ones I can think of are the Mojo sights. https://www.mojosights.com/sample-page/n/

I've tried the Mojo rear sight on an SKS and didn't really like a rear aperture that far from my eye. Some people like it, but I didn't.

I've also used an S&K scope mount on a Swiss K31. It replaces the rear sight and you will have to get a long eye relief scope with 9" or less eye relief to work. Or use a red dot with unlimited eye relief. You will also need to work up some sort of cheek riser if that aftermarket composite stock doesn't have one built in.

http://www.scopemounts.com/index.html?main.html Dig around on the "Ex-Military" drop down menu. Look at all three of the items in that menu. The Mosin Nagant is in there.

Definitely will need a cheek piece for the stock. I made my own scope mount for Swedish Kaiser, utilizing the rear sight mount, 2-6 variable pustol scope, and that works well. Wanting iron sights on the Mosin, will check out the Mojos.

No experience with Mojo's but they appear to be real nice. If you go the iron sight route there's also a front sight available from a Canadian outfit that looks like an original Mosin front sight but is adjustable for both elevation and windage, and that can be real handy on a Mosin. They are called "Euclidean Machine Works, Inc."; web site is euclideanmachine.com and has complete info and a video. I picked one up a year ago for my not-Bubba'd Mosin 91/30 that I handload for and I'm real happy with it because my Mosin still looks all original but I can adjust elevation & windage if need be ( very handy with different bullet weights & elevation). The complete front sight with a special tool for precision sight adjustment, ( the whole package) runs $68. and they say 4 to 6 weeks wait time. Check it out and compare with the Mojo stuff and either way would be nice IMHO.

I will check this out, sounds similar to an SKS, front sight. It would be nice to have that kind of adjustability.

I'm real happy with it.and recently got the Mosin dialed in sweetly at 100 yards with a .311" 150 gr. Sierra bullet load that shoots great. It's neat to have an old mil-surp that looks all original but can be zeroed like that. The video on their web site shows everything in detail. If my eyes were younger I bet those groups would be even smaller, LOL..

That is sweet. A lot of those old warriors still have something to give. My old eyes keep my group's a bit more open than the guns are capable of, I'm sure.
