    Hey rifle guys,

I'm primarily a pistol guy so please pardon the stupid questions.

I have a Marlin Camp 45 that I typically use for plinking at 25 yards when I'm doing my pistol plinking. Compared to my pistols the carbine is much easier to shoot accurately (no surprise here). I'm wanting to find out what this gun is capable of doing at 100 yards. Would the 45 ACP trajectory out of my carbine be equivalent to the same trajectory from a pistol? I don't want to sight it in for 100 yards because I'll still continue to do most of my shooting up close.

How high should I aim at 100 yards if I'm zeroed in at 25 currently? Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance,

    Michael

For my Camp 45 I settled on a scope zero at 50 yds which I found useable out to 75 yds. At 100, you will get nice groups and somewhat less drop than from a handgun but you will definitely have to hold high. Try zeroing at 50-, and see how much the drop is at 100.

Good luck, let us know how it works,

    Bill

Standard 230 fmj will come out the carbine at about 1000fps. Hot 185 jhp about 1200 fps. There will be less bullet drop but not enough to make it a rifle. Go to a ballistics website and run the numbers to see how much the trajectory changes.

what are some types of scopes for a camp 45 that you would recommend ? 4x or red dots ? What are some decent quality red mounts out there?
