I am looking at purchasing a 3x9x42 or 3.5x10x42 scope in this brand and probably this model (big sky). Anyone with thoughts on these scopes or this brand? My next option is probably a 2.5x10 Nikon Monarch.

Any thoughts on any of the Sightron rifle scopes (SI, II, III,)?

Sightron makes excellent scopes for the money. I have 5 Sightron S2s now and feel they are better in every way compared to some of my older Leupold VX IIIs. Also been using the S1 on some RFs the last couple years.

Well I bought the 3.5-10x42 SII Big Sky and am pleased so far. I got a fair price and a hunting backpack thrown in from Midsouth Shooters Supply and I sent in the $50.00 rebate from Sightron. I mounted it today and will hopefully get to shoot with it soon. The contrast and clarity seem very good and the elevation and windage controls are very nice.

That should be an excellent set up. You might post a review, good or bad after you shoot it.

I must have close to a dozen SIIs - they are my standard 'go-to' optic. I obviously think very highly of them.

I have actually become partial to less magnification, as being more 'all-around' than higher-mag scopes. My favorite SII is the 1.5x-6x/42, but I don't think that they make that model any more.

I just posted about Sightron on another thread. Buy it. Excellent optics and life time replacement warranty, no questions asked. I also own the Nikon 2.5-10x40 with bdc. Great scope. Bdc reticle is spot on in the Nikon. either of this scopes will get the job done. My personal preference is Sightron and I am getting ready to buy another Sightron scope.

I've got a SI 3-9 on my .22 and an SII 4-16 big sky on my 5.56.

They are both great scopes and just as nice as other more expensive scopes.
