Sigs

Wanted to add an updated photo of my 226ST and 228 that I took yesterday....might have posted a similar picture in the past, but I liked the way this came out (almost twins with the Hogue grips on them).

It may be blasphemy to say this.....but the more I shoot the P226ST, the more I enjoy it's heavier weight and shooting feel over the P228.

Camera up and running

...

Ok, figured out how to use our Christams present of 06, (Digital Camera) and will be taking Sig shots of the family next week, with background that will flavor your eyes as well..

Stay tuned..

I scanned through a couple pages but didn't really see what I was looking for so....

I had a bad expierence with a Mosquito, but I'm willing to give em a second chance. There's one in particular, the P232 that I'm very interested in. How are they? Any personal expierences?

Also, is there such a thing as an entry level Sig? Something to get me started that won't break the bank? Not really looking for any particular caliber.

Thanks guys :)

For an entry level Sig I suggest some of the refurbished trade ins. Gander Mtn. has a deal on Sig 225s for $349.

As to the P232, I love mine: very accurate, easy to conceal, one of the best "natural pointers" around, mild recoil, and they come in several configurations. Best of all, they are in my favorite trigger mode...SA/DA without a safety. I highly recommend the P232. I've got a pic somewhere in this thread.

Something to this effect?

That's the pic that made me want a 232 :)

There isn't a Gander Mtn. around here, but I'll check the shops for a good used deal. Should I look for a CPO or just any plain used model?

skud_dusty,

I wouldn't go for one of the $349 P6s for sale at Gander Mountain because they do not come with any type of warranty. While most of them have worn finishes and spotless internals, you never quite know when you'll get a bad one. I believe they are German police pistol turn-ins. For another $150 or so, you can get a CPO Sig that comes with a 1-year warranty and has been inspected by SigArms.

As for the P232 (and for most other Sigs as well), I wouldn't judge it based on your experience with the Mosquito. The classic P-series pistols are some of the most trusted and reliable guns you can buy. I've owned quite a few of them (P226, P229, P232SL, P239) and they're all great pistols. My P232SL was a very accurate shooting little gun and I only got rid of it because I was sticking with 9mm as my one and only caliber. If you're thinking of buying one for use as a carry gun, I'd recommend that you give the P239 a try as it is available in 9mm, .40 S&W, and .357 SIG and is only a little bit bigger. I wish you luck in your decision and hope this helps.

I've actually got a .45 compact for my carry weapon. I'm looking for something that isn't quite a pocket pistol, but will be able to be carried when I can't carry my .45.

I'm to the point where I want something with some style and flair. Yes I like a big American hunk of steel, but I also want a gun that is a fine piece of art.

P232 380 Question

...

Hey guys, has anyone had problems with feeding problems with their 232 380's? I had no problems the first 200 rounds, when I babtized the gun for the first time. Then it started to jam at just over 230 rounds, which at the time, at the range, I put a smidgen of white grease on the feed guide, and it worked without anymore jams for the remaining 150 rounds that day.

I then disassemble it, and was amazed how dirty it was in the mag/feed area, and cleaned it, lubed it all, and thought, that was the problem. But to my dismay, last week, the same "pattern" jams occurred with the first 3 full mags.

And it is always after the first shot that it jams, using only a 7 round mag load.

Then it cleared up, and I even tested the one chambered, 7 in the mag for 8 shots, and no problems.

Any ideas as to what might be this "first 3 mags" first shot, jams, even with clean, lubed gun?

It has only 525 rounds out total, todate, from NIB.

Thanks

LS

It would depend on your definition of breaking the bank. I'd look for a P series Sig. There are alot of P229s floating around both used and CPOs. I've seen CPOs go for around $500. You can pick up a used one for $400 - $500 depending on condition, night sites, # of mags, box, papers, etc. The CPOs are a good bet as they are refurbished by Sig. Just remember, you get what you pay for. IMHO, I think its best to spend a little more and get a top quality product.
Good luck!

Buy a new Sig and get $100 worth of SigTac

Got a tip from the Sig forum to pass along here.
Sig is beginning a promotion starting June 15- September 3,2007 with a coupon worth $100 of FREE SigTac tactical clothing or knives! When a NEW gun is purchased, customer will receive a coupon to complete and send to Sig, with proof of purchase. Sig will then provide the items direct to you!
This applies to new handguns only - no 556s.

Both the coupon and their web site refers to buying the gun from your "local dealer". Does anyone know if it also applies to internet sales?

A Mosquito for $370 with $100 in free stuff is tempting (not that I've heard a lot of favorable things about the Mosquito). Local prices aren't nearly that competitive.

It doesn't matter where you buy it, as long as it's a brand new pistol, so internet or local gun shop purchases are both included. You just need a receipt/invoice.

My early Mosquito has been flawless. I no longer have any of my Ruger's. All .22's can have issues, especially when dirty or a bad lot of ammo is involved. Rugers are not exempt, nor are pistols costing more than both.

+1 Ak
.22s can be very tricky. Ammo and cleaning are very important. I have a Trailside that hasn't given me any problems (don't really have many rounds through it though) and an older S&W 622 thats eats up everything and anything. Having said that, I read alot of mixed reviews on the Mosquito.

Went to my range last night. They got a P220ST traded in that is in very nice shape. Box, two mags, and papers for $650. Looks like a low round count gun. I can probably get them down to $600 + tax and fees. The gun feels so perfect and I don't have any ST's yet.
I've been wanting to buy a RRA CAR-15 next (don't have an AR yet either) or a Remington 870 Marine XCS  I really don't need another Sig right now, and I would only use the P220ST as a range gun.
Need more will-power :banghead:
I'm going to the Valley Forge gun show today to look for an M1 Carbine for my son for a graduation/birthday present. Hopefully I will be able to stay focused on that :)

We must have passed each other there today. I was the boy walking up and down the aisles. :)

Didnt buy anything today, but it looks like there may be a few more SIG's on the horizon, among other things. I think I might could have found a buyer for my MP5. Can you say Ka Ching! :D

AK - I think I might have seen you
What did you think of the show? I was surprised on how empty it was.

I stayed focused on the M1 carbine and came home with a nice Inland shooter for my son. I can't believe how hot and how much $$$ these little guns go for :what:
The look on my sons face was worth every penny :) He sat it on a chair next to him at the dinner table. My wife thinks we're absolutely insane  Can't wait to take it to the range Monday night to give it a run.
Of course I couldn't come home empty handed for me. I picked up a new Mossberg 590 Special Purpose  Nice HD gun that feels perfect in my hands. Looking forward to blasting some holes with that on Monday as well.
I've always been a Remington man, but I thought I'd give the Mossberg a try.

It was OK. I usually dont go to many anymore, but my dad wanted to go, so I met him down there.

I saw that those selling the carbines were mighty proud of them. :) I did see a couple of nice ones though.

I did see a boy with a couple of nice P225's for about $400 each. Should have grabbed one, as the ones we saw at Gander in Harrisburg on the way home were as rough or rougher than the ones they were selling last winter. The extra $50 would have been well worth it, but it would cost me another $100 in gas and 6 hours of my life just to drive back down there, so I'll just keep on looking around and see what turns up.

How did you like Dennis Todd's table? He always has some nice stuff and is always ready to chat. There were a couple of other class III people there, but he's always the most interesting to talk to. :)

heres my sig p239 I like it enough to start making my own reloads for it

P232 ~ New Baby

Just wanted to show off my new baby. Bought her on Thursday. Took her out to the range on Friday. Here is a picture of the first shots out of this gun:

Sig%20P232%20with%20Target.jpg

This was at 20 yards (the closest our gun range allows). This is by far the most accurate little gun I have shot right out of the box. I was surprising myself with each shot. This is my first sig and I am very happy. :)
