Thanks for the info Ref & Alarm. Your right the Nills are pricey!! I was kinda looking for rubber grips, but being a woodworker refinishing is no problem. Heck if I took enough time I could make my own, but just don't have the time to do it right now.
Right now I am in a delema, Carry this one when my CCW arrives or get another to carry as I would hate to have anything happen this one. I am considering the 226 as I already have a holster (Blackhawk) that will fits a 220 or 226. I can always get another, no big deal if I choose something else in the Sig line. I have large hands so that also plays a part in the choice.

If you do decide to carry something else, check out a P229. It's a little easier to conceal then a P220/P226 but the grip is about the same size.
I also have large hands and find the P229 a perfect fit. You can get it chambered in 9mm, .40S&W, or .357sig.

well...... the sickness continues! :)

Picked up my second P6 today at Gander Mountain. $350 again, but this time I got three mags. This one is almost new and has very little finish wear. (other than that hammered out import mark) Inside it looks to be new, with no wear on the rails and only the faintest hint of a smiley. The trigger on this one is as good as any of my other SIG's. My first one is dated 6/82, this one 9/98.

Sights are better this time too, dot/bar type. The first ones were plain. These shoot point of aim, the others didnt. Night sights on the way.

Shoots pretty good too. :)

Welcome - Very nice P229ST.
The P229STs were probably the least made STs. There aren't that many floating around. They generally go for anywhere between $700 - $800 depending on box/papers/mags. The NIBs gor for about $850 - $900.
You can contact Sig with your serial number and they'll be able to tell you when it was made and maybe how many P229STs were made. If you do, please post their answer for the rest of us. Thanks!!

Victoria from Sig customer service said they were made in 2005 and there are approx 400 of them. I feel pretty good about paying $560 for one that is mint with both mags and the case, I am missing the manual but she is sending me one.:)

We are based out of Arizona, but we're putting this together to get our name out there. We'd love to get some new toys in the hands of those that are responsible and who love Sigs.
 
Some General Sigsauer Notes

I was in the local iron peddler last night and I was pleased to be shown two handguns that they'd just received. First was the P250, which I have been completely underwhelmed by since I first heard about it.

Now, I must confess one thing. It has one of the best Sig Triggers I'd ever felt. It pointed a little Odd for me, but it fit my hand well. If it ever makes it on the CA DOJ list I may have to give it another look.

The other gun I was allowed to handle was a Sig all Stainless P226 "S" in .40 S&W.

It felt and looked much like and X5 with the mag well and heavy weight. It is A single action only. The gun was brand new and very stiff. No play what so ever. very tight tolerances. I was impressed.

I imagine shooting .40 S&W out of this thing would be much like shooting 9mm out of my girlfriend's P226ST.

Are you thinking of buying it?? It would fit perfectly in your stable of Sigs ;)

BTW - Did your girlfriend come with the P226ST 9mm, or did you get her hooked on Sigs??

I agree with you on the P250, but the more I handle them, the more I like the feel of them. I'm still waiting for someone at my range to buy one and let me give it a try.

I've been sidetracked from the Sig addiction lately.
I bought a couple of Beretta 92s (1 Inox for me and 1 Police Special for my son in the Air Force) and this S&W K-22 http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=331200
 
1BR, I don't plan on getting the P226S. It's more target/game than I like. I turned my girlfriend on to Sigs. She used to carry a S&W 10mm back in the day. Both of our P226STs are up at Grayguns and should be back this week I believe.

I know what you mean about distractions. I just picked up an M&P and am waiting for my 10 days on a P99, both in .40 S&W

That P250 is something I'm trying to keep an open mind on. There are a lot of other directions I would have liked to see Sigsauer go other than the P250, but I'm trying not to let that turn me off the P250
 
My 229 in 357sig was purchased in 1995. Teddy Jacobson installed a short trigger and did a complete action job on it a few years ago for me. It's a very nice pistol, with a very smooth action.

I received my P226ST back from a Grayguns trip - now I just need to find the time to go out and hit the range to try it out.

I can tell you that the trigger pull is nice and smooth (I got the CRAAP package). I also had them put in their custom 'intermediate' trigger, which feels better to me than the short trigger as it's more comfortable for the SA pull.

I'll post pictures when I get a chance too, though it looks like any other P226ST.
 
Looks like I killed this tread a few days ago....need to bring it back!

I hit the range today with my 226ST that was enhanced by Grayguns. As you can expect, the trigger is a work of art now. The DA pull is smooth, though not greatly reduced in weight (maybe in the future I'll try a lighter mainspring). The SA is much crisper now too, which helps when shooting. I'm not experienced enough to tell you about the supposed better reset, but that's something for me to work on in subsequent visits.

I'm happy with the results, and suggest that those who like their Sigs as much as us here should save up some cash and sent it out for work. You won't regret it!
 
to truely get the most out of the Grayguns work, you might consider attending a Garyguns class. Bruce is as skilled a teacher as he is a gunsmith

Never owned a Sig before last week. A LEO friend couldn't say how much he like/trusted his, and Sig Owners in general tend to be strongly loyal to the brand. So I took the plunge and bought a P220 with 5 inch bbl. I'm beginning to see why you all like them so................

Hey guyss. I just love sigs. I'd like to know what your opinion is on the sig 229 .40 DAK. Is DAK a good trigger system? Do you think it's too heavy?

I've got one and really like it. The trigger pull on mine is at about 6.5-7lbs. I installed an 18lb Wolff hammer spring which lightened it up from about 8.5 lbs.
IMHO, the DAK is a good system for self defense weapons.
The pull is longer and heavier than a Glock, but I like having that on a SD weapon. I liked my P229 DAK enough to buy a P239 SAS (DAK) and a P220 Carry SAS (DAK). The P239 and the P229 are my primary CCWs.

You've picked a great one to start out with. I'm sure that you will be adding more Sigs to you collection!
If you get a chance to shoot a stamped slide older W.German Sig, you'll see why everyone gets "hooked".

abrink, I really like the DAK system. Heavy? Well, to me, no. The long stroke first pull of the DAK is lighter than the first DA pull of the decocker SIGs. The shorter pull possible on follow-up shots with the DAK is heavier than the first stroke, but I just let the trigger return all the way forward to the longer but lighter stroke. I suppose some like to shoot follow-up shots with the shorter but heavier stroke, but my revolvers' triggers must be allowed to reset all the way, so I shoot my P229 DAK the same way. I doubt there is any realistic difference in shot-to-shot speed with AIMED shots, and I live in a populated area, where all my shots must be seriously directed. I do like the short trigger option, as my hands are not large. I eagerly switched to a P229R DAK, buying the first one I could locate, dumping the Glock G22 as a duty pistol.
