I'd like to join. My only SigSauer, a 9mm P229, purchased used (LE) and manufactured in 1996. I added the TruGlo sights, plus new springs, cleaning, etc.

Welcome - And thanks for paying your membership dues (picture) so quickly :D
How do you like shooting with those TruGlos? I'm thinking of putting them on my P220 or P226. I looked at a used Sig this past weekend that had a red Truglo front sight. I couldn't believe how bright it was. It looked like it was a red light bulb sitting on top of the slide

The TruGlo green front on my Equinox is really great. It is very easy to acquire and re-acquire. I think it is a big reason why I shoot that gun very well (for me). Go for it.

I found a P245 CPO in my area. Would someone who has owned/owns/has shot a P245 care to comment on the piece? How does the new P220 Compact compare (I know about the beaver).
I owned a P245 for a while but sold it. Here's a pic:
P245_Left.jpg

I found the grip much too small for me to shoot comfortably with the standard mag. With the extended 8 round mag it was fine, but then it's the same (grip) size as a standard P220. That being said, the only two Sigs I've found not to my liking was the P239 (357 Sig) and the P245. I much prefer the P220 Carry. YMMV.

count me in. proud owner of a p226 in .40 i would really like to add a 220 and a 229 9mm to the collection too.

Loplop

Is just the the front sight a TruGlo, or are the rear sights Truglo like OH25's P229 also?
My other problem is this - which gun to put then on. My P220 original nites are getting dim and they need to be replaced. I like the "classic" look of the gun with the wood grips. I don't know if the TruGlo's would look right on the gun. I think they would look out of place - not the same vintage look.

IMG_2244.gif

I think they would look more at home on my P226. More like that Equinox  look.

One other option I thought might work is putting the sights from my new P226 on the P220 and putting the TruGlos on the P226. I'm not sure if they will fit. Sigs website lists them for 9mm and .357sig, and then for .40S&W and .45acp. If so, I'm SOL - my P226 is 9mm. Any help or opinions from fellow club members are welcome!!

I'm actually low on SIGs at the moment, at 3. I have the most total rounds through my 226/.40.

Here is my best looking one, though it is a safe queen:

P229ST_3.jpg

With the cost of ammo, the one I shoot the most now is a newer production 228.

I had an SP2022 9mm for a while, but never warmed up to it I guess. I parted ways with it this past weekend, and replaced it with a G19. :what: Haven't had the chance to shoot the Glock yet.

One of these days I would like to add a new production 229R in either .40 or .357.

Of all the Sigs I've loved before.... (pic intensive)

Wow - Thanks for the porn!!

Jealousy

WOW Falconer. I wish I had a stack of Sigs like that! I have my five listed before, but WOW! Jealousy has set in!

To all the Sigphiles in the room: Which Sig do you carry? I know we're displaying our prides but what is your carry piece? I usually carry my 239. Due to some recent events in Arizona, I've decided it's time to start carrying more ammo. So I decided to start carrying my SigPro. I didn't have a good holster for it so I spent a few weeks browsing and ordered one from BearClaw Holsters about a week and half ago.

I'm actually waiting on the new holster but I've been trying to decide on a way to carry spare mags... Any thoughts...???

I wish I still had them all, but the only one still in my posession is the P220C SAO. :( I will replenish the collection one day. :)

hgr -

I carry my 239 and my 229, both in .40S&W. It's easier to conceal them in PA during the winter months, late October to March. I carry the 229 in a galco CON250H with a sweat shirt over it. I have a SigTac conceal carry coat that I can carry just about anything in for the cold weather. It's great for around here - but probably not for Arizona  weather. In the summer, I usually carry a S&W 642 IWB. Great for shorts and a tee shirt or I carry the 239 in a smart carry under my shorts - works pretty well, just need to practice your draw technique.

Sig for a glock

Don't worry, no more trades in the works. :) Though if Glock comes out with a G20 SF, I might have to be all over that one. Sig does let me down when it comes to 10mm. I sure wish they would introduce a P series classic 10mm. DA/SA.

To all the Sigphiles in the room: Which Sig do you carry?
My P239 in 9mm was purchased specifically for carry, to replace my Colt Defender (3" 1911). I carry it in a Milt Sparks Versa Max II, and am quite pleased with the combo. It's really not a small gun, but just about right-sized for fun at the range and small enough to conceal. I feel pretty comfortable with a loose t-shirt over it. I don't like IWB all the time, so I do wish SIG would make a "mouse gun" for those times when IWB isn't my choice.

I have a Milt Sparks Watch Six coming for the P220 Carry pictured earlier in the thread. I will carry that in the winter, most likely.

I personally don't feel undergunned with "only" 9 rounds of 9mm, I carried 7 rounds of 45 for years and was comfortable with that. I could carry 14 (or 16 with MecGar) in my P228 if I really wanted, although I haven't received my holster for that, either.

I would like to find a P229 in 357 SIG someday, I'd really like to try that caliber.

1BLINDREF: the front sight only is Truglo. That's fine with me, as it's the one I'm looking at :D

Falconeer: I suppose since I like my P239, I'd probably like that one. Although, since I own a P220 Carry which I love, it's not really a great use of funds. I don't have large hands, in fact they're probably smaller than average... So the P239 feels good in hand. It does move around a bit when I shoot it, though, which the P228 and P220C do not. I suppose I prefer the larger grips by feel, slimmer grip by carry. I'd like that magical mousegun that grows into a P220 when I really need it :neener:

Silvanus: of course you can join, it's a SIG isn't it? How do you like that skeeter??

220C

LopLop - How is that 220Carry? I've thought about it but I still can't shake the anxiety I get from only 8 rounds in a carry gun.

I love the .45 but I really love the .357Sig x 12+1.

I like the looks of the 220C and it looks amazingly balanced. I guess I know I'm a good shot but when the SHTF I'm nervous about not having enough shots.

I heard a rumor today and wondered if anyone can verify/disavow it. I heard that Sig is working on a striker/piston fired pistol due out sometime in the next two and half years. Any whispers? It didn't come from an uber reliable source but it's interesting to think about...

Wow, so I thought I liked Sig's before.... I had fired a 226 Navy (NSW version) from a benchrest at a NRA safety class a few weeks back, and had received my 226R Navy as a gift. Finally got to break it in last night, and wow it's frickin great! :D

Forgot how light the trigger is in SA, but after about 100rnds at 7-15 yards, I pushed a target back to 20 yards. Managed to keep 5 rounds in a 5" group, I was ecstatic! Tried a few rapid fire strings, and well I can keep it together at 7 yards, I lose it any farther out. Have to keep working on that! :) Those 200 rnds went by pretty quick it seemed like, all in all it was great. Now I'm thinking about which Sig to get next, probably should get one my fiance can use too as she really likes the Navy but it's too big for her.

Can't wait to try it on a benchrest again and see what I can manage. Also found out the local indoor range does some USPSA style shooting that I was invited to, so I'm going to check that out as well! :)

I'd like to join up also.

Here are my 229R 9mm (17+1!) Siglites with Crimson trace laser grips.
And my 220 ST Green and orange Meprolights and Crimson Trace laser grips.

1BLINDREF,

My P226's in 357SIG both have #8 sights, front and rear. My one P220 has a #8 rear with a #6 front, and the other both #8's.

Check the numbers and see what you have.

MGW makes a sight tool that looks the same as the SIG tool for half the price. I wouldnt doubt they make both. Its worth the money if you own a couple of SIG,s and allows you to change and adjust all but the P232 and the polymer framed model. You can pick up night sights for about $60-70, and sell the used ones on EBay for about half that, so it works out well.

Chem Geek -
Sounds like you're hooked  Check out a P239 for your fiance, single stack mag is nice for smaller hands. P229 if she likes the wide grip of the P226. I can see the wedding pics now - Mr + Mrs Geek wearing their CCW Sigs :what:  ;)

Mr. S
Thanks for joining and the pics - very nice! I'm in SE PA. Where in PA are you - East, West or somewhere in the middle?
