What is required to own a silencer? I know it is federal paperwork, but I am having a hard time getting a good answer about what forms. Is there state reuqirements as well since this is a federal issue? I am in VA. Thanks for the help.

Find a dealer near you. They will help with all the paperwork. And they will know the local laws (if there are any)

As far as a dealer near me, that was the problem. I cannot find one. Thanks for the proper terminology. Does anyone have link to the federal site in which I can find out some of the information?

Form 4

I just recently bought my first suppressor and it wasn't all that hard to do. Just some paper work.

Find a Class III Dealer in VA.

Purchase your suppressor through that Class 3 dealer.

Your C3 Dealer will purhcase it on your behalf and have it transfered from the Manufacture or other Dealer on a FORM3 to their location.

Then the dealer will then transfer it to you upon an approved tax paid FORM 4

While the Dealer to Dealer transfer is in process (FORM3) you will have to fill out and complete a FORM4

Their is about 3+ ways I know of to fill out a FORM4.
My preferred way is to Transfer your NFA Item to a "Revocable Living Trust" this way you don't have to hassle with LE, photos. etc...

I didn't belive it was possible until my approved FORM4 arrived 6 weeks later at my C3 Dealer.

I followed the writeup this Guy provided and it work perfectly.
