considering the purchase of a silencer but i'm concerned, am i asking for trouble.i'm new to this forum and would appreciate any advice thanx

Trouble? Like from the government? No.
As long as you fill out the appropriate paperwork (and your SOT 03 dealer will make sure that you do), you'll have no trouble at all.

The various states also have rules on suppressor ownership.
One thing I noticed about suppressor (also known as "cans" in vernacular) owners is that they seem to be like potato chips, can't have just one.
Which is because they are pretty cool machines. One of the worse side effects of having suppressors included in 1934 NFA is how they have been shrouded in a cloak of mystery and taboo for so long.
