I just entered the shadowy world of small bore silhouette rifle shooting the hard way. I’m a relative newbie to shooting sports, having started shooting about 15 years ago. I was crazed enough to raise my hand when 4H asked for volunteers to start a new archery club in my county. I’ve coached kids in 4H in NRA 3-P & CMP Smallbore Rifle. Suddenly, I’m taking a squad of 3 kids to the 4H National championship in Grand Island, NE. The national rifle competition adds small bore silhouette to the 2other courses of fire.

Of course that means building silhouette rifles for the kids. Using Anschutz 1712 and Tikka T1X rifles, I am topping them with Leupold VX3i 6.5-20x40 EFR and Mark AR 4-16x40 scopes.

Leupold techs told me they are developing a silhouette scope with target turrets and silhouette reticle, I’m assuming similar to their Turkey plex.

What do you use for silhouette rifles? If you could design your own silhouette scope, what brand, what power, what reticle would you choose?

Have used several different rifles for small bore silhouette over the years. What you choose depends what class your competing in. For scopes I liked the Leupold 6.5-20 with target turrets and a dot reticle (don't recall the dot size).

Great job, 30 years ago I was a 4-H instructor. I can't advise as I never had your budget. I use a Mueller but you can afford better.
