I bought a package deal a couple of years ago, first thing I did was take the Simmons 8 point that came on that rifle and replaced with a new Nikon. I found the old scope a few days ago and was thinking of putting it on a mini 14, has anybody used one of these, I know they are in the $40-$50 range, so not quality I know, but yall think it will stand up to a .223 or should I chunk it, I have actually read some fair reports on it here and there.

They sold a sizable number of them on "combo deal" deer rifles.

If it will stand up to a deer caliber in enough numbers to make using them on the combo deals cost effective, it should stand up to a .223 for a very long time.

The problem with cheap scopes is not that they all won't stand up.
It's that a certain percentage of them will break, regardless of what caliber you put them on.

It's the gamble the manufacture takes on a cheap scope.
Apparently it's cheaper to replace a certain percentge of them that do break, then build them so none of them ever break, and price accordingly out of many peoples reach.

If it adjusts properly to zero it, and makes it past the first 50 rounds or so?
It will probably last forever.
