I was simply amazed and a little scared tonight at work when a co worker of mine who is not to mention a complete moron was telling me his extensive knowledge of guns, so me being interested in guns I listened. This man was telling me the reason why a double action gun is double action is because you dont have to chamber a round but that the gun is ready as soon as you load the mag, and that this is why he bought a new Hi-Point. he was also telling me that he vever safeties his 1911 because it will not go off unless he pulls the trigger well I hope thats true. Further more today he is telling about how he was teaching his new girlfriend who just recently got into guns and wants her ccl and her 13 year old son gun safety in his living room with a loaded hand gun. He asked my opinion I told him I think him and his new mate should get proffesional training on firearms first. I think he is mad at me now. oh well.:what:

What a ****. How then is the first round in the magazine chambered if not by cycling the slide? Try asking him what the difference is between a DA/SA (double action/single action) and DAO (double action only) pistol. For that matter, ask him "if not having to cycle the slide in order to load a round is what makes a gun double action, how can a gun operate as both a double action and a single action pistol?" Also ask him about Glocks and see if he tells you they are porecelain guns that don't set off metal detectors (Die Hard 2 fiction).

aaaaahhhhh ddddddddddddduuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! Oh sorry! Just a little Drawn Together reference!

Gotta wonder about those old single-action revolvers. Musta sucked trying to chamber a round in those each time.:D

Was he that black Federal Agent who shot himself in the leg in a classroom full of students??? (And then sued the government for showing the video?)

Hahaha. He says, "I"m the only one trained to carry this pistol." OOps...

About 20 years ago while working and discussing reloading with a great coworker, another "employee" walked up and listened. After about 4 to 5 minutes of hearing me, the "other" asked "Ever heard of an uzi?" (His statement rhymed with fuzzy). I stated yes I know what an Uzi is. What about it? He then stated "Well I got one". For fun I asked what calibre,he didn't know.
I heard months and months of BS from this guy about his safe in his basement so big that you could put a bed in it. He kept all his reloading supplies and equipment in it too. He knew everything about reloading except what powders, primers,or press he used.

I understand he is now on the Sheriffs Department.

Well hes at it again same oh boy just informed me that he is going to go get his concealed license and WA doesn't require a class first. If there was ever a person that didnt need to have a gun he'd be it.

And thats how it happened officer.

The theory of Darwininsm in action folks.

unfortunatley, the human race doesnt compete in natural selection because the strong carry the weak and in turn they reproduce to make more stupid people. these people can not listen, learn, or be reasoned with so they will be idiots for the rest of their life. for the girlfriend she has no hope, if she is with this guy chances are she is pretty stupid too. i do feel sorry for the 13 year old boy he could turn things around but not with this kind of mentor.

How does he come to reason this with "double action"? Perhaps you should engage him again and go further into that discussion.

Bigdaddy,

Have you considered straightening this guy out before he or someone around him becomes a poster child for gun control? While it may tempting to let him go ahead and earn his Darwin Award I'd be afraid it would be someone else who pays the price.

But we could:cool:

Simply close public hospitals on the weekends. If you have an accident go to one of the private walk in clinics and give them your insurance card{ no insurance? pay cash or survive til Monday}

Agreed that it is scary that half wits like this can vote, but thankfully most of them cant be bothered to.

Me and my flintlock

Went to the range last Saturday. Walking past me were four young men, all in their twenties or so. Three hanging on the fourths every word, and those words were every bit of gun tripe and old wives tail I've heard. Kinda shook my head and went on with reloading. RO comes over and says "You know what's scary? Those boys are from the local Air Force reserve wing and that *&^%$ is their Lt."

If that is the interpretaition that he has of safe gun handling, then i hate to see what happens when "his way" gets deciminated down to his girlfriend and child! What is the world comming to? I by no means no everything about anything, but a little about a lot, but though i have pride, when it comes oto something that hurt myself or others i am definetly gonna get the right trainning and/or experience before i go teaching someone else!

I meet far too many of these rubes, and to date I've only known one that had the sense to shut up when I called his bluff. He eventually sort of came around and did learn the basics and safety. ;)
